1975 XS..... start it up..ride a minute.. dead.... hit starter button.. nothing.... jump the starter solenoid… engine spins no spark... wait a few minutes.. hit button... starts... half a mile.. dead... the right bar switch.. feels good... lights come on.... the "on off on " action feels good... I replaced the condenser…. I was think'n coils... but that wouldn't affect the starter..?

Your starter button and kill switch are housed together. Take it apart and clean it.
Most likely your kill switch is not secure and shutting off the coils.
