All cleaned up and ready to polish. Seals, 2" valved lowering bushings, HHB fork brace 9n it's way to complete the front end ressurrection!

Looks like they cleaned up pretty good. That lowering kit you're using.... is that the one described in the Tech section?
Btw.... Sue said she wants the towel back...

Last time I did the fork drop on an XS650 I just bought some tube and cut, smoothed and chamfered the edges. Since the engine is out of a bike of a near fatal crash from a front end failure I thought I might do it right and make the front end as stable as I could. So the ported pieces were cheap enough and will be here Saturday with my seals.

Hi Jim,
I think you mis-heard what Sue said. I reckon that Sue has donated that towel to the project and expects to be bought a new one. Or two.

I am not seeing much. If I 3d model one in Solidworks...Jim you aint got a 5 axis Hass hidden somewhere do ya????;)

Currently halted due to lack of parts....
Monstercraftsman is officially on my shit list of unreliable vendors. Jon and his team took my cash three weeks ago and I haven't seen my weld on brat kit as of yet. He sent me a shipping label but no tracking is available.
Its unfourtunate, they have really nice stuff. Its a shame they cant fulfill their orders.
Anyway, tiny things are still happening with this but I am kinda on stand still until I get the frame piece. I might order one from Visual Impact and see which one gets here first....

Well that sucks... I just checked out the Visual Impact one. Looks like a good choice to me.

I assembled my forks last night. Updated the drain plug and 8mm socket heads holding them all together with new hardware and crush washers.
I sent another nastygram to monstercraftsman this morning. He insists it is getting picked up by USPS today and to check my tracking later but I wont hold my breath.
In the meantime I did some more frame smoothing and welding to repair the freeze cracks per Jims suggestions.
I ordered new tires. Shinko 207 classics. I know the handling isn't great on the repop "old school" old school tires but I have always wanted to use a set in my build so here we are.
I am looking at controls from Kustom Tech but holy hell are they pricey!!! I also looked at some cheaper options from dime city. The whole set is about $300 from DCC while the Kustom Tech are teetering on $800 for clutch and brake controls. I know you pay for what you get but damn that seems excessive.
Lets see what else??? I decided on some mini gauges from DCC as well. I have used their 2.5" tach and speedo before. Quality and price point are pretty well in line.
Since I lowered the front end two inches my fuzzy math has determined some 10-5/8" shocks would be suitable for the brat install...once I get it. I need to make some decisions on a source for these. I really don't want low quality for something that is being relocated to an angle it wasn't really designed for...I would prefer some fairly robust construction. Any suggestions?

I love my bike with the visual impact brat kit. Has nice lines. Jump Street Customs makes great controls available in mids or forwards. Might be worth a look.
