And you thought being chased by a dog was bad!

I think that's shot from the back of a pickup truck. Still exciting though.

On second look I see a bike mirror or something. Who can swivel around like that though?

We have lots of mountain lions and bears (bear density about 1/sq. mile), as well as deer, elk, antelope,etc...in moab mountains, just not many peeps go deep in the remote roadless parts. They stay away from people and hard to spot unless you look careful...and they 20 ft on top of you in tree. Deep woods singletrack never know what around next bend.

The experienced hunters are the tigers that pop out on the road ahead of you, not the ones that chase you.

20 or so years ago I was working second shift at a factory. Worked overtime until 3 am. Riding the RT home I had just got through the last small town before the town I lived in. 10 mile stretch referred to as deer ally. Cruising along at 45 or so I noticed something bouncing through the left ditch. It got my attention. I took a good look. It was a buck deer with a healthy set of antlers. About then he swerved toward the road making a bee line towards me. I became very alert very quickly. Dropped the BMW down 2 gears and grabbed a big handful of throttle. Bike responded well. The buck came across the road and his antler passed over my saddle bags. If he thought I was a fast moving doe and he would have caught me we would have both been F%ckd.

Riding in northern IL I've had many close encounters with deer. More than once I could have slapped them in the ass as I went by. They are nothing to take lightly. Once in the UP a herd came across the road and had a dozen cars sliding around me. I found a safe exit off the road into the ditch and field next to it.

So true. Famous motorcycle safety author and lecturer Larry Grodsky , wrote a regular safety column in one of the big motorcycle magazines. Was killed when he struck a deer in Texas at dusk.
Deer are bad enough. Cows are just as bad, I live in a rural area with a lot of farms. More than a few times I've had to dodge cows. Only good thing about them is they don't move fast. Tend to just stand in the middle of the road.

Raccoons, possums, dogs, cats, snapping turtles and other critters you just try to hit them square with the gas on.
