Hey guys I'm n need of a set of tires for a 79 650 special with mag wheels 19 front 16 rear I think there the stock mag wheels if ne one has a set for sale or no of a place to get a set cheep I'd appreciate it thanks

I can be a cheap SOB but can't see trying to find old used tires!
I mean I might save a used tire off say my Sportster that still has some thread on it and mount it to one of the XS650's when puting a new pair on the Sportster. But no way I would want to spend the time driving several miles to pick up a used tire and then go through the effort of mounting it only to find it is dry and hard and dump the bike at the first curve.

What gggGary says. I've run Shinko's 712 and 230's on the SG. I liked the 230's better. They last a decent length of miles too. Stick well wet or dry.
Well if you do insist on installing and running old tires I think I would get some course sand paper and scuff them up good before trying to ride on them.
I made the mistake of just doing a short ride, and by short I mean only a few hundred feet!, with some old tires in my driveway. I touched the front brakes as I came up the drive in first gear and in a flash bike was on the ground as was half of one front tooth! Not to mention the hole the rear brake lever put in the right side of engine.
