I have what maybe MAC pipes on a 76 I am trying to get going.
The centerstand bangs into the left pipe after use, do most guys create a bracket and mount a factory style bumper?
Or just place a piece of rubber line of some type on the centerstand at point of impact? if so, what type of tubing can take the heat of the muffler?

Thanks.

Thanks Jim, I will give the heater hose a try.
Also like what you did to ease the use of the center stand...will give that a try as well as weld the support gusset.

Put grease fittings on your centerstand pivots. Keeping them greased is one of the best improvements you can make. This goes hand in hand with bracing the tang. A braced tang flexes less and transmits more of the lifting power into the stand when you step on it.

YEP, I will drill and tap for zert holes, as well as weld in a gusset for the tang

Well, if you're welding, you'll need to build up the area where you intend to put the grease fittings. It's a bit too thin as is .....

The grease fitting will stick into the pivot tube and rub on the bolt if you don't do this.

Glad you suggested this, as it not something I would have known til I did.
I don't weld so what I may do, is provide a a couple of small stainless washers and or a small stainless spacer, so the threads to hit the bolt, acceptable?

I just thought of another idea..weld a small matching nut to the C/S at the point of entry, then it would serve the necessary purpose.

I have the Mac 2+2 exhaust on my 78 Special.I have the XS Direct (Mikes) center stand stop bracket and rubber stop. This works fine and looks good as well IMO

Thanks Skip,
the ones on the site have a longer / oblong bolt hole application than yours, did you cut your down?

I may also have a MAC 2 x 2 system, don't know yet.
Can I get a full size pic of your bike to compare to the system I have on a newly acquired bike.

Thanks.

Hey Norton7d you are welcome
When I bought mine I believe there were 2 different lenghts...I bought the longest one so I could custom fit it and drill my own hole to solidify the fit and function.
Here is a picture of the bike showing the Mac exhaust system.

My headers aren't shiny...don't know if they ever put out that shine.
I also don't have clamps, don't know about any leaks, haven't started it yet.

Any chance I could get some video of it running, to hear the sound / volume level?

yeah you gotta upload your video to youtube, vimeo or facebook then use the film icon here to link to them.

I am also using one of those pre-made brackets, but it looks a bit out of place IMHO. During winter I may make a new LH side muffler hanger with an integrated center stand bumper bracket.
