Well my old XS 650 friends, here’s an update from me to you....

Out with the old (Cranberry / Silver) in with the new (Aegean blue / Fusion white)....nearly two years old on the trade in....belted 30,000 kilometers in the first year since new then rode from North Queensland to Tasmania Australia on it. Spent the last six months riding it around here in Tassie which is like one winding road from start to finish, motorcycle heaven.
I decided that trading before warranty ran out was a good idea, and because I can, yep, another good idea. Liked the bike so much that a new one would suit me more now rather than later. Changed all my accessories over which was great, so here we go again run that bike in......gotta love the Triumph Bonneville T120...
It’s now or never to buy a new bike, still I will own another XS650, I ploughed way too much time into learning about the XS650 to let that go to waste, this is just a little holiday from ownership again :)
I left the sticker on the tank to stop me from wringing its neck whilst I run it in, fair chance I’d just give it some WOT without thinking about it....as you do.....

gorgeous........ you could almost believe that was a 60s Bonnie from a distance if it wern't for the disks etc .
I think that was a really good decision mate given the mileage you do. You've now got the best of two worlds.... a classic looking twin thats also reliable :bike:
Its a no brainer really.

So thats your boat in the background is it ;)

Thanks Peanut, it’s not the most powerful bike, but a great allrounder, the boat, well it’s a Police boat, they’ve been chasing me for ages, thought I’d give them a look at the new bike. They must have been ashore getting supplies (doughnuts)

Nice ride.... I almost bought one of those R/Enfield twins…. but saw a report about another R/Enfield twin due next spring.. Meteor... same unit..but with steel rims..standard exhaust..more old school look.. cheaper..

Hey Mick..........if you can why not..........the blue looks real nice, dam they got it right on these bikes.......

had some time to spare a few weeks ago while in Cairns, went into Wayne Leonards, (triumph), for a look around. Things must be real slow, Wayne was there and at my elbow chewing my ear off before i had a chance to know where i was.........He couldn't get me to sit on a bike fast enough........if i had my helmet i would have bee able to have a ride........

They feel real nice to sit on and everything seems to be in the right place.......

Enjoy the new toy.....doesn't need to be said i guess....

Hope the weather has been drier down there for ya...........haven't had so much rain, or should say, rainy days up here in all the 30 years of living here

G'day Mick,

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Nice looking machine but, it is still not an XS650, LOL.

When you come back to God's country let us know maybe all of us North Queenslanders can get together for a ride.

May your God bless you.

Mick mate, such a lovely looking place.

My wife is an ex Pom and can I get her to go to Tassie, no Farkin way, "would be too much like England"?? go figure.

G'day Doug,

Yup Wayne (Magic) will talk your ear off.

When I lived in Cairns you could drop in anytime and chew the fat even if you were not looking to buy.

Nice bloke,

GeeDub

Sure looks nice, almost tempted to buy one but I can't get past the lack of a kickstarter and the fact that it shifts on the wrong side. Guess I'll keep my old one a few more years.

I hear you, still, there is always a hill around for those who have a flat battery....as far as gears go, you figure the left from the right pretty quick

Nice ride.... I almost bought one of those R/Enfield twins…. but saw a report about another R/Enfield twin due next spring.. Meteor... same unit..but with steel rims..standard exhaust..more old school look.. cheaper..

650? Looked over the web to see if there was a an RE1200 but only came up with the interceptor engine, still cheap as you say

Nice bike, and an even better spot, right in the middle of Hobart - noice...

Bugger all people here too,

Hope the weather has been drier down there for ya...........haven't had so much rain, or should say, rainy days up here in all the 30 years of living here

They did get it right Doug, dry like I’ve never seen it before, well for a wet season it is, just bloody cold

Thanks, been a bloody rough year.....still don’t really know when we’re heading North, thought the winter would get me moving.....

Wot in Tassie?????????
Yep in Tassie, rode the bike for 5 hours today, that’s saying something for the cold, it’s certainly something different for us here in AU, our North American brothers and sisters are pretty use to it though...
