What have you done to your XS today?

Dual Slotted Discs
View attachment 146878
Spent 10 minutes doing a trial tighten up and the discs run centred and true. Now I am wondering if I should return the new 16 mm master I bought in favour of an 11 or 14. Will be using the search button again.
I believe that can be found on MMM's Vintage Brake pages..........I got there from 650 Central's web site.

Cmon Pete.... We all know that’s your car. Lucky Buck. :)

Nope - I pulled up in a 13 year old Miata which I bought used - but it’s nice too. Besides, I’m not comfy driving cars that are worth twice what my house is....<really>.

Only works if you have the tools and the material. But that's all the more reason to take advantage of having access to the tools. I've made quite a few things being cheap, but if I hadn't gotten material basically free then it wouldn't have been cheaper to make.

I cussed at mine.
Had to run a few local errands on my Heritage Special sidecar rig this morning and when it started
(at the first push of the button like usual) the effin' thing was only firing on one cylinder.
Gotta tell you, a 325cc single cylinder sidecar rig don't go fast at all.
WTF? The thing was running OK yesterday and for years before.
And now I have to work on it.

But, this is what we do, Fred, is it not? we work on our Xs650's.
They break down, we get out the tools, and we find spiritual fulfillment in the wrench-turning...
I think that you are one of the dudes who taught me this....:)

Hi 'dude, Pete,
thought It'd holed a piston but a comp. test showed 150 PSI both sides so my worst fear is unfounded.
Today I'll fit new plugs as the tester shows sparks on both sides but only on one of the plugs.
You'd think it'd be easy to buy plugs but Ffun Group's bike shop (where I get a family discount)
only had one of them. WTF eh? Have to pay full whack at Rec Supply instead.
After all that I'll most likely I'll find it's a fuel problem, right?

It sure sounds like you have a bad plug Fred.
Does the problem switch sides when you swap plugs?

Hi Pete,
installed 2 new plugs.
Pulled carbs,
Gave each open intake in turn a shot of instant-start and pushed the starter button.
Healthy roar from each cylinder.
Has to be a carb. problem, eh?
Tore the carbs down to the bare castings and went medieval with carb cleaner.
Will reassemble them tomorrow.

Looking forward to hearing about the results of your work, Fred !!

Took some time away from the 650 (love affair with my DYNA!) I finally sorted out the rear fender/clearance with the 31 tooth sprocket!

Next is rewire the harness (I'm picky lol), get the HHB charging system wired in. And hopefully fire her up this summer.

Plan is to build my own exhaust from a builders kit, what have you guys built? Love to see some ideas!

Cheers
