Whoa... $1500 is dirt cheap for a "modern" bike and it isnt even the latest edition...I have had other sport tourers but never a Kawasaki Concours..I have heard these are vastly underrated and are excellent LD rides...more inspiration for me ....next year...

Wow! That is a bargain, even if it does have a zillion miles on it. Compression test would tell you its health. And, yeah, it looks like a long range hauler!

These bikes are notorius for mega miles..89K is chump change for this sled...They are known to go well over 200K...7.5 gal tank..300+ miles range

My buddy in River Falls, Wis. had one of these.. great bike. He put it on crudlist (craigslist).. some dude in Texas call'd.. deal done..flew up.. rode it back to Texas.

Bout a decade ago Did a fly and ride from LA back to Wisconsin on an ST1100
But I knew the owner and had 100% confidence in the quality of the bike.
Done many fly and drives on cars and trucks, so far all have been successful with a few minor enroute repair stops.

The Kawasaki Concours is similar to my Honda ST1300 and I ride with a guy who has one. The power of the Kawi is astounding (around 30 HP more than the Honda) and they really are quite the machine. The long range fuel tank is great and the handling and cornering clearance are much superior to a traditional "full dresser". About the only thing that Cedar Rapids bike may lack that a newer bike would almost certainly have is ABS and many of the 2002+ models have that as well. Parts for these bikes are readily available either new or used and while they are a little complex and everything is covered with plastic, anybody who can fix an XS650 could do the same on a big sport tourer with a good manual and the right tools.

These bikes were really designed for the European market where 3-500 miles is all the way across several countries and riding speeds are much higher. In fact, 175 km/hr or around 110 MPH is a speed that folks in family cars often hit on the autobahns of Germany and sporty cars and bikes commonly go much faster (some up to 250 km/hr). In fact, the design specifications for the ST1300 were that it had to be able to go 200 km/hr (~120 MPH) for three hours without refueling. That is why I wish mine had the on-board restroom option.

Frankly, there are SO many large-bore touring and sport touring bikes (H-Ds, Gold Wings, Concours, ST1100 & 1300, FJRs and even the older Bimmers) on the market these days for low, low prices that it simply cannot be much fun trying sell new ones for upwards of $25-35K.

I've never owned a bike that had ABS so i dont know what i am missing...Prices for used sport tourers are all over the map..generally speaking though ..one can find a great deal..theres a ton of them out there...While my focus is the '80 Special two..deals like these tell me not to worry about finding good buys ..I see ST1100s similarly priced..but I have had 2 of those already and they are more top heavy than i would want in another sport tourer.
I have ridden the Concours C14. That was incredible. Looks big and fat but at speed it felt quite nimble..The killer is in parking and manuevering it around the garage..Same with. the ZG10..it s even heavier than the C14..Ideally I would love to have a 1st gen FJr1300..prolly 2005
My goal was to downsize to 1 bike but if that1 bike is an XS650 then i will prolly want something else to ride more regularly...Honestly do not know if I can handle taking care of a 40 year old bike ..but if i cant then it will go back to the marketplace...
