Oh man I’m falling wayyy behind in votes!!! Time to resort to dirty tactics and do what works in the magazines....naked women sitting on motorcycles. I’m unscrupulous like that so don’t judge me. :boxing: (I’m totally kidding;))

Here are some additional pictures of my 1980 "Special Two", soon to belong to Madmax-im. I bought this bike in sad shape with a seized engine for cheap, but it had a title. My goal was to build a bike that deviated so far from stock that it would score poorly in stock class at a show, but would still present nicely. It's fun to display this bike around folks that know the XS650...it's kind of a "Where's Waldo" of wrong parts. This has been a great bike to both show and ride, and although it has gained a bit of patina from use, it still turns heads. Thanks for nominating this one.

Xs

XSevive............... Could you go into more details of your suspension or build,it's a very beautiful XS you have and now doubt a head turner.
Hi ,

It is an XS650B 1975 model that was butchered into a dirtbike and destined for scrap.

It is built entirely from all stock components from lots of other bikes which makes for simple replacement if needed in the future.

Some aftermarket items like mufflers and speedo.

Major modifications include ,wheels and monoshock rear end from FZR400R.
Forks are fully adjustable FZR600 Thundercat

Brakes are twin 4pot Brembo running on 320mm floating discs.and rear 2 pot FZR1000 caliper.

All the chassis geometry setup was based on the FZR400R ,considered to be the finest handling bike of the era.

Tank is SR500 with fuelcock mods to fit to the xs frame and All other body work was made by me using fiberglass.

The entire build was done in my home workshop in Nth NSW ,nothing was shopped out other than the cylinders rebore and frame sandblast .

Engine mods include 34mm Mikuni roundslides and adaption of Yam RD350 LC alternator, doing away with the overweight original unit.
and running XV250 reg/rec

The bike is now currently Registered and Rides superbly.

Also heres a link to a short 2min vid of the build.

Don't know why I bought this bike, bit of an internet-browsing better-judgement failure thing. But I'm glad I did. 1978 Canada SE imported to UK around 1995. Looked like this at purchase:

That was end of May. Since then, lot of work and hardly had a chance to ride the bike. Mostly mechanical but have also lost the wanna be a Triumph Thunderbird style. Went for a tribute to the 1972 XS2 which I think suits the bike a lot better. Don't have a lot of pictures of the entire bike, but looks like this now:

Many thanks to Max Pete for nominating the bike and Mailman for seconding.

i really like the paint on this bike

Yesterday, I took a ride into the near SouthSide of metropolitan Syracuse, the hi-crime area that the Syracuse Police Department calls "Gangland", as gang shootings happen there at a disturbing frequency. I wrote this up at another thread:

http://www.xs650.com/threads/just-ride.54772/page-26

...but thought the picture I took would suit this voting thread, as well.

The background:
The traffic was busy and dangerous, with folks running stop signs and speeding.
Streets were throbbing with hip-hop music coming from jacked-up SUV's with chrome wheels.
Little patience for me on my vintage bike, creeping along at 30mph, looking left and right for an absorbing scene.
Hassled by street people at some venues.
Did eventually take 38 photos.

...and managed to get one that I found satisfactory:
Kicked away a broken bottle at this abandoned storefront,
and waved off a few nice young kids on their bicycles who wanted to ride into the picture.

Right after I installed the HHB CDI & the Shori battery I did start the motor but with a set of cut off stock headpipes. I`m as curious as you guy`s are?? I have optimizer`s and a little baffle yet to install in each pipe.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for considering my bike for the calendar amongst such a great group of bikes.
Mine started as a pile of parts and a whole bunch of ideas that slowly came together.
I wanted it to start as a board tracker but it ended up as a vintage inspired bobber.
It features 19" wheels front and rear, monoshock conversion, external fork springs, those pipes and clear over brushed steel tank and guards.
It handles really well an is such a fun bike to ride.
The build thread is here.

Here’s a couple better sunlight pics that show the deep blue pearl flake I painted and a pic showing how I wired my neutral light to the top of the tank shifter using a bar end light.

Here are some more pictures of my '77. This was a complete nut and bolt restoration, and every piece of aluminun was wet sanded with progressive grits, then polished to a mirror bright finish. The motor was rebuilt with 3rd oversize pistons, and the head was mildly ported. Suspension upgrades include Race Tech emulators and springs, Tarozzi fork brace, and a good set of Progressive Suspension shocks.
The bike has won trophies at several local shows, but that doesn't stop me from riding it regularly. It loves the twisties, and I do too on this bike. This is the best handling XS of all I have owned and ridden.
Thanks for nominating it for the calender.

There are some super nice builds there. I am glad a lot of people went out of the box to make them special. I did have some input on one of the bikes and it did turn out great. As a bike builder of over 40 years I don’t want to be the person to say who is the best but there are three that went over and beyond on special parts. Good luck to all from the DaddyG family. KEEP CHOPPING haha
