I know I'm walking out on thin ice here because everybody has their own idea about what product is their favorite. First, I will admit I'm a slow changer. I find something that works and I stick with it. Like Jim, I have used a lot of canopy polish on ( I'm just gona use the word) plastic. I think everybody knows "theres no shine like Mothers". Mothers is good stuff, IMO. But after all the hard work of painting and buffing and polishing and trying to keep it that way? Paste wax would get on the black rubber parts and turn it white. It's also labor intensive. This is for chrome, this for rubber, this for plastic... I mean, if it wasn't one thing it was something else.
I've seen the adds, "F-11 is no joke!" At 80$ bucks for a bottle on Amazon, I would hope not! But I'm not shelling out $80 bucks to try it!
Long story short, I get a bottle of "Meguiars Clear Plastic Cleaner # 17". I tried it on the plastic side decales of my 77. It is really impressive! Anything plastic! It's fast with not a lot of rubbing. When they say "Mirror Glaze" they ain't kidding! ( No, I don't sell it or own stock in the company) The real proof was the hard to clean black plastic wire looms. It did it in seconds and no heavy white dry wax in the cracks.
Next I see an add for "Car Guys Hybrid Wax". It say, " Spray sealant infused with carnauba wax." " ...longest lasting spray sealant on the market". "Extremely slick hydrophobic Finish" '... leaves a deep wet brilliant shine" It can be used on the TOTAL exterior of the car . Hummm. Yeah... Looks like maybe an F-11 type product. Amazon, A bit less than $20 bucks for a 18 oz bottle. Ok, I'll bite.
So I gets it, and after washing the Toyota, I spray some on the hood. Man, It looks like watered down Amour-All; for 20$ bucks? I spray some more but...so I quit. I can't tell the difference. It rained during the night. I get up next morning and head out to feed. The car has drops of water on it but not on the hood! I put my hand on the hood and it feels like silicone spray on my fingers. It's dry but slick, definitely something there. Damn... I head for the bike. A little spray on the special rag that came with the bottle, flip the rag and lite buff. Not bad. I put it on the whole bike , pipes and all. Didn't have to worry about getting wax on the rubber parts turning them white or having to wax on, wax off or have six different products. Shines like a diamond in a goats A$$. Oh, I do use windex to get the oil spots off the muffler and wheels and such first.

I'm sold on this stuff. Give one or both of these a try. I bet you'll say "Damn!"

Interesting reviews. I've run across products that are hydrophobic before, buy never tried any. Might have to try one.
Regarding plastic cleaner:

I'm betting your Meguiars #17 is pretty much exactly the same as the above. I swear by this stuff. $9 for 8 ounces shipped from eBay. It is perhaps the single most important product in my detailing arsenal.
It is basically a very fine, non-aggressive polishing compound (do you younger guys even know what polishing compound is?). Of course it works great on all plastics, but I also use it on all painted surfaces -- tanks, side covers -- and on all rubber surfaces. For example, the rubber fork bolt covers that go on top of the forks -- it cleans and polishes them and makes them look fantastic. It's a one-step cleaner/polisher that works on almost anything.

It's part of a 3-product line, but all I have ever tried is the number 2. Anyways, whatever brand you buy, I highly endorse plastic polish.

G'day,

This is what I use and in my opinion it is the ducks nuts.

A little goes a long way and I think I have had mine for nearly 10 years, almost finished now.

Do yourself a favour and get some.
