can anyone tell me this: #1 Can we get an led replacement headlight for our 1982 xs650 Heritage Special. #2 How do you adjust the headlight up and down or is it set in that position for life.

Hi Porkboss, don't know the answer to your #1 but I'm sure someone will. On question #2, does your Heritage Special not have this bracket

holding the the underside of the headlamp to the lower fork yoke? There to make adjusting the beam height a cinch.

Lots of info already on this site - search "LED headlight" or something like that. Some are H4 bulbs that would require different headlight assembly than OEM XS650; the attached pic shows one that fits right into 650 headlight bucket. There are 7" diameter aftermarket LED units but seem pretty pricey.

Thanks to Raymondo, Redleg and BBQ Hunter for your help. All I had to do was bend over and look for the adjuster, my wife is always telling me to bend over when I can't find something in the fridge and it works everytime. Went for my first long ride last night and my first ride in the dark. I think I'll try to keep it in the daylight. I can see better on the bike but still not good enough. That reminds me I had gone into town to get something to eat and stopped by the auto parts store for fuses. They had my 20 amp to I decided to go ahead and replace the old one. The old one had some corrosion on the inside on one end. I went to pull it out with my fingers and it was owy hot. Had to eject with a key. It had melted the plastic holder a bot. Had to super glue it back when I got home. I think if I had ridden to long it might have caught fire. Talk about a hot seat. Check your fuses !!!!

Lucky to catch the fuse but now you've got to find an answer to the question of why it was getting hot. Bike trying to tell you there's a short circuit or other electrical gremlin hiding in there.

Quite common for fuse end(s) to get hot from a bad/corroded connection. Let's hope that it was just the fuseholder...
