New here

A nice, used centerstand should be easy enough to come by around here, what with all the chopping going on. Check the "Classifieds" section, maybe even put a "Wanted" post in there. I think the centerstands on these are very nice. I like the pivot tubes, so much better than just a narrow pinched flat tube. But, you have to keep them lubed. They work very well like that, but they also bind up very well if not lubed.

Jerry in SanDiego, You ought to be able to find used XS stuff down there ?
We know some crazy Calis do chop up bikes

Nothing on craigs list that i need .

I could make a temp stand just to hold it untill I get the correct stand
I keep the bike on the back patio
theres no risk of it getting knock ofer or any of that.

There is a member on here that has one for sale on here I've already reached out to him.

You'll need a '74 or newer stand. Earlier ones were a different size (narrower).

You could get it up on a wood crate/box, pop off both wheels and grease the swingarm and steering stem bearings if those areas are long time old, it’s a “good time” lol
:)

The front shocks need to be rebuilt also.

Now that i got it running ill put it up on a stand and slowly start replacing / polishing stuff.

A few years back, I invested in a Blackjack 1000 and I just love the thing. This is a screw jack, not hydraulic, which is so much better in my opinion. Easy to set the exact height you need, and no worries about it settling (sinking). Mine is the real deal and cost me about $100 (which I don't regret for a minute) but Chinese knock-offs abound on eBay for about half that .....

Even though I have a centerstand, this jack gets used whenever wheels have to come off. With it, you can set the exact height so the axle will align and just slip in & out.

I don't bother using the little arms that slip on the lift plate, I just lay a length of 2 X 6 or 2 X 8 on it. I think that gives more contact area and support than just those little arms.

Hi 5twins,
nice gadget!
Us cheapskates use 4 car breaker's yard-salvaged scissor jacks and a slab of used plywood.
As my son's Ducati don't have a frame below it's engine he swaps tires by lifting the bike on a service stand, hanging the bike from the garage roof from it's 'bars & rear shock mounts & dropping the service stand down enough to remove the wheels after pulling their axles.

I keep the bike on the back porch.
Only way to get there is through the house. Lol
