Whats your weather right now?

So today we have had a pretty active thunderstorm system over Arizona. Tornados just really don’t occur here, rarely a funnel cloud. So today we had this puny tornado touch down for about two seconds, North of Phoenix.
The local TV stations had camera crews and reporters on the scene, reporting on a house that lost some shingles from the roof, a tree blown over and ( I’m not kidding ) the guys dumpster was blown over.
I’m watching the news and I turned to my wife and said, “people in Oklahoma are laughing at us right now.” :laugh2:

Partly cloudy all day. Temps in the mid 90's. Right now(1905 hr) it's raining heavy. Remnants of a tropical depression. Weather guessers are saying it's going to stick around for a couple or 3 days, raining on and off. It's the last week of Monsoon season.

Nice point there, Machine.
I've got a spot down in the holler where I find "spent rounds" , usually they're broken. I can imagine the hunters up slope aiming down on a game trail. The points range in size from archaic arrow heads to Paleolithic atlatl tips.......game trail's still there.

This particular rather remote area has been wonderful to study and imagine the past times for many years. I’ve personally found quite an assortment of clues unknown to recorded history all around. A real variety of points spanning different times and origins.
A well traveled and hunted corridor between land mark peaks and a deep gorge for I’d say thousands of years. Still mostly untreaded even by current hunters. A very quiet peaceful and large area where many desert critters live to hopefully see and enjoy.
There were sign coyote, rabbit, deer and many birds to watch yesterday.
Its the quiet and clean air that just sets your soul free out there.

Man I would be absolutely thrilled to find an arrowhead like that!
Oh you could find some in Arizona or better yet maybe Spanish Gold !
Thing is you better wear your boots ?
Up here there are just hardly any little mean critters that bite you or plants that poke you.
Your Arizona Desert is awesome !
:wink2:

Oh you could find some in Arizona

Something there is a lot of here in Arizona is old West history. Ghost towns, old mining towns, U.S. Army Calvary forts from back in the Indian wars days. Searching these sites with metal detectors was a pretty big hobby here for a long time. Most of the good stuff has long since been discovered though.

Yesterday was another hot and dry one.
Temps up to 96°F. Breaking records over there in Austin.
Temperature in my truck got up to 114°F.
Air conditioners on full-blast.

It's summertime.

Then it happened.

Cold front came thru last night.
This morning, temps down to 42°F. Cold, rainy and wet.
Heaters running on full-blast.

Now it's Wintertime.

I can't recall ever experiencing a 50°F temperature drop like this.

For you metric folks, that's going from 36°C down to 6°C.

Brrrrr...

Nice bright day in southern Scotland. Temps must be up about 11-12°C, that's about 52-54°F, so Mrs and I headed off on the W800 for morning coffee at the Lavender Tearooms in Etal. Quite a lot of bikes on the roads - people opportunistically getting one more ride out.

We had a little frost the first of the month. It was an old cold rain this morning. This evening a front blew in. It's 20 to 25 with gust to 30 and temp down to 31. Not too bad. Tomorrow nite down to 28F. May be cold this Winter. I lit the first fires of the season this evening. I keep one going in the Earth stove up at the "big house" for the wife. I keep one going in the box wood heater in the line shack for me. I love sleeping in the loft. It's warm and toasty. I like to hear the wind and acorns hitting the tin roof. On a quiet nite I can hear the horses snore. For me, it don't get much better.
