Nutrition health and Weight loss

Hey Peanut!
I’m not going back! I just read about pasta vs. EU. Pasta here, depending upon what you believe, is bad as opposed to EU. Ours is enriched, etc. What Italians eat is just from white flour. Yes, it’s ultimately sugar either way. I love pasta. Can’t have it.

Marty...at this point in time..you need to adhere as strictly to the Keto plan as possible..
However..i believe once you have obtained your goals..you will have more flexibility over what tou can and connot consume.
This has been my experience..however that does not mean i can completely abandon my goals to be healthy andto eat well..it just means things are no longer as critical as they had been....

I was fighting what I felt were worse issues than the fat. I don't want those issues back. Thanks for the encouragement. I gained 5 lbs at the rally, trying to be good. It's back off me.

Totally understand...I love your mindset and determination..You have it right and i have faith you will get there...I actually lost weight at the rally..because breakfast and dinners were really mostly protiens and saturated fats although there were some bisquits and home fried potatos and even grits in the mix...
What really made the difference is that for one reason or another i managed to skip lunches for the 4 days i was at the rally...This would have been the meal I would have had to eat out and would not have had any control over..I came back and was 4lbs less than when i left..

Peanut, where do you lance? Fingertips?
Does it affect your ability to use your fingers?

no.... I can still stick 2 fingers up lol or 1 if I want to be very rude :)

I always stick the lance in the side of the tip of my fingers it seems to be less painful there and usuallly there is enough blood. You really only need a tiny tiny speck for the monitor to read . If no blood appears try squeezing the base of the finger or increasing the lancet setting or pressing the tip of the lance into your finger

I sometimes lance in the exact same spot 5-6 time a day if I am testing my Insulin response to certain foods or exercise. You are sure to find testing at various times of the day and after meals etc very interesting

Dying to know what your fasting blood sugar is tomorrow morning before you eat or drink anything.

At least 7 out of every 10 American Adults over 45 yrs have Type 2 Diabetes thats a fact !
If you are over 45 and reading this there is a very high chance that you are one of the millions of undiagnosed type 2 Diabetics .

Diabetes , pre-Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome or Insulinemia ,call it what you will,is basically Insulin sensitivity and those of us with chronic hyperinsulinemia are at a significant risk of Coronary heart Disease, strokes, and a Fatal Heart Attack .

Here is a short exerpt from the latest seminar given by Ivor Cummins at the Oxford University about Fat and Cholesterol its just a few minutes long I hope you'll spare the time to watch it...

Well, ok, I just bought this glucose meter, $20.

And, a box of 30 test strips, $7.

So, I'll be up for awhile trying to figure this stuff out, decide on a sacrificial finger...

its gonna be like a pin cushion soon :laugh2:.....
actually I test in exactly the same spot repeatedly and the lancet is so tiny it heals instantly .

A good starting point would be to measure your fasting blood glucose level so take a reading just before going to bed and again first thing when you get up next morning.

To be a reliable fasting level it must be before any fluids or food and of course before taking any medication because most meds contain fillers which frequently contain sugars which will skew your test result.

Wow, my memories of lancing 50+ years ago are *nothing* like using these new lancets. Didn't feel a thing, a non-event.

Ok, I've finally got this thing figured out. The instructions booklets are 3 times the size of the gadget (*gasp*).

This morning's fasting test: 72 mg/dl, (4.00 mmol/L)
Ketosis test: 6 mmol/dl
No more Keto flu.
Lymphedema still reduced.

Kinda wrenched my back from all the heavy lifting, been taking a resting break. Not doing much activity, so my weight has stabilized at 185 lbs. That'll change soon...

Those stats sound pretty good to me..but then i havent a clue to what the variables are supposed to be. i need to get my act together in that regard...
Glad you have gotten passed the keto flu...I only had it once...

wow ... thats a fantastic result .! I wish I could see a fasting BG level under 6mmol/L in myself but its usually up in the 6-7mmol/L range after fasting

At least your blood glucose is right where you need it although it would be better to be slightly higher at 5+mmol/L I would check your levels occasionally when you feel particulary fatigued or shaky , dizzy or weak etc. From your description I suspect that you have been going Hypoglycemic occasionally when eating little and working hard .

There are no hard and fast rules about an individuals optimal blood glucose level , it is an individual thing depending on a lot of different factors but you will know your body better than any Doctor or blood glucose level

If you see anything less that 4mmol/L during the day I would carry a few oatmeal or digestive biscuits around with you to bring your levels back up quickly if it drops below 4mmol/L.

The fact that your Lymphedema has reduced just goes to show how much more effective a low carb diet is at treating the cause of a chronic disease than any drug could ever be. Of course the disease is not the Lymphedema itself... that is just the outward symptom of your bodies efforts to correct your metabolic dysfunction and bring it back into Homostasis.
Really pleased that you are having such great results 2M :)

Well I dont have a BG meter but my weight scale keeps telling me i am solidly into the 130# class although I am not trying to lose anymore..it seems momentum is in my favor...I'm perfectly happy@140# but its clear we're not quite done yet...

I have had great success at regaining my health..too bad my health and knowledge of XS650s is so poor...I do not know if i will keep the bike..because it isnt meeting my expectations..In a year's time i may be dust on this forum...I dont dare mention this in the main body of the forum ,,as i will prolly get reamed for it..but i am very discouraged with the XS650....
