I recently got new rubber on my spoked wheels to replace my current wheels.

I have very very limited workspace (and tools) where the bike is. Is it possible to change the wheels while on the center stand? I don't have a jack... And don't really want to buy one. When I swap the front wheels, I also want to install my shorter forks as well .

Just seeing if there is a trick to doing all of it without having to buy a jack

2 ways that I've used in the past.... wood/concrete blocks under the engine. Or.... use rope to tie the grab bar to something unmovable on the ground.

I've used a heavy rope and a car bumper... emphasis on heavy rope.

Borrow a scissor jack from someones trunk.;)
That's how I did my dual brake conversion.

To clarify, place something, block or what have you (I use a chunk of un split cherry trunk wood) under the front of the engine to lift the front. It'll be high enough to change the tire and the forks.....not together of course.

Thinking the rear tire comes out easy enough without having to remove the fender, unless you have much shorter shocks on....its been a while. Work on one end at a time untill that end that you're working on is back together....lol

I used a 2X4 notched at the rear so it sits on the center-stand cross-tube. The holes are for engine bolts and drain plug. Sits nice and solid. Works a treat.

I also use a scissor jack under the front engine mount. Be careful however ! This is not totally stable so it is wise to loosen the axle nuts and things like the caliper before you balance the bike on the jack.

I have for many years NOW used 2 eye bolts/screws in the floor and pulled the rear down using a ratchet strap threaded through the eyes, far safer than fannying around with blocks of wood and scissor jacks, what would it cost if your bike come off the Jack or blocks? A lot more than the cost of a strap and two bolts.
Doing the rear is easy on the centre stand, the front including forks is not so easy unless the rear end is strapped down, don't ask how I know.

Awesome timinig as I am going to need to change out my tires too...I will do one wheel at a time..I have arthritis in my hands and arms and shoulders..consequently i do not have the hand strength to pull old tires off the rims and stretch the new tires on..so i will remove the wheels and take them to our local Cycle Gear store.. If you buy your tires from them then its only $25 per wheel to change a tire...They have the tires I want ..Pirelli MT66 Routes
Since i have brought the bike home 2 weeks ago..i have yet to ride it anywhere..0 miles...budget constraints are such that the priority is paying off the seller first. The bike is just languishing in the shed....no battery yet either...:( Routine stuff for you all...Its been a few years for me....
