Being an adult sux sometimes...

I was waiting to see you try the hydraulics!

How many years since it ran last?

I know this project might be slightly OT for this forum, but hey at least it's a vertical twin so not that far from an XS650!

Not sure, but judging by the sludge in the gas tank, I'd say well into double digits.

Unwrapped about a pound of electrical tape off the wiring harness this morning. Not sure how the thing didn't burn to the ground...

Wiring fixed, everything new, added a fuse, works good. Doesn't appear to be charging but that's a problem for another day. Likely the generator needs some love.

Hydraulics work but beaucoup leaks and fluid looks like chocolate milk where it's leaking out of the cylinders. Water in the oil for sure. No problem, drain it all out anyway. Cylinders will need to be kitted, all the hose connections will need to be cleaned, sealed and tightened.

Scared me for a bit, the control setup is different than I've seen before. Two valves sticking out of the body. I at first assumed that the top one was "UP" and the bottom one was "DOWN". Nope. Nothing happening. Rut-ro...

I had taken the lever off as part of the disassembly to get to the trans and I remembered it had two rods operated by one handle. Hmmmmmmm...I wonder... Yup, BINGO. "UP" is pull out the top valve and push in the bottom, "DOWN" is pull out the bottom valve and push in the top.

Whew...
