The pentagram star wheels came today. Perfect! Too bad the red line Dunlop K91 tires are 40+ years old. They still have the molding tits and not a weather crack in them anywhere that I can see. Reminds me of all the XKE`s and TR6`s that I should have kept. Oh well.

I’m happy to see that those wheels arrived in good condition. I’m already pumped about your next build. Im very interested in the details about adapting them and what’s involved.

I took the wheels from the basement out to the shop. The front is a direct swap (no brainer). The rear is another story:shootme:. The 18" rear did come with a offset rotor, caliper, and caliper bracket so that will just need the correct spacers made. The sprocket side needs to be spaced out about the width of a 530 sprocket. That puts it just about flush with the face of the centering hub. Sprocket Specialists makes a offset rear sprocket with a thick mounting flange that will center correctly and is available with a 520 pitch. Just what I need. Only one problem. It costs more than I paid for the pair of wheels.:yikes: Looks like a new sprocket spacer and extended centering hub in the near future. I did read all the posts on the forum about these wheels and got some good info. Hairy supervised! What he lacks in intelligence he more than makes up for with stupidity??

Yes. That has been done before and looks like it works well. Too easy! I`ll probably spank the monkey on this for a couple of weeks, take my usual ass kicking "then" cut up a sprocket that I know all the holes line up perfectly, is the right thickness and is flat.:banghead:

Could use an aluminum sprocket ?
Could even create a sprocket mount cushion system there using fanalic plastic or hard rubber ?

My life long best friend came by today with the prototype (model) of the spacer he`s making for the sprocket side rear wheel. Perfect!! I know I can complicate this a lot more if I just put my mind to it.:yikes:

I`m not sure what he did this on but the actual spacer will be out of aluminium. There is a hobbie shop that has various equipment like mills, lathes, etc available to the public on a monthly membership basis. Not sure but I think there is instruction for those just learning to use the equipment.

69 degrees today so I refinished the rusty brake disc. The sad part is this was a new never used disc and had not been stored properly.:( I pick up the next donor bike Fri. A 1981. I looked at 3 81`s in the last week in one form or another, each with the rear drum brake mags.

Mate,

You must be a passive gentle person if you hve a cat in your life.

They are inscrutible and the best companion at times of distress.
