Has anyone ever mounted a fender on top of Hugh's front fork brace?

I have this vision in my head, but can't find evidence that anyone has done it.

Has anyone ever mounted a short fender on top of Hugh's fork brace?

The brace has those holes across the top and look perfect for mounting screws. On top I was envisioning a short style fender - like this one (minus the bracket in the pic obviously):

Hi Pete:

I don't think its quite the same, but my Special donor bike for the Cafe build came with a really nice fork brace - and it seems to fit fine.

You could probably cut up a stock fender and get the look you're going for. Mounting it to that fork brace should be fairly easy.

This XS650......I will sell it for....<wait for it>....ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

Unless Hugh Makes 2 differnt size fork braces, a guard won't fit under them. Tevan works for Hugh so it would be easy for him to make a one off to suit his bike.

Pics from Hugh's site. And a pic of Gordon Scott's Fork brace that Hugh got his idea from.

650skull- I agree, he probably did mod it. I bet he'd change one up if asked.

Maxpete- Great catch, ONE MILLION DOLLARS!:laugh:

I know this is an old thread but I am looking to get a fork brace for my '79 650 special.. and like everyone else here I'm trying to fo into a budget (as little as possible). I'm gonna run the 20 yo tires until they disintegrate like the space shuttle and when comes time for uni pods and jetting I'll probably chop the muffs.. so anyone have a line on a used fork brace?? Btw that Omar brace looks sick I might try roping my pal into welding a Hughes style tubing brace that I can mount s fender under.

You might want to spend your money on new tires before you bother with a fork brace. A brace isn’t going to help you when your tires disintegrate underneath you at 60 mph. Compared to having under five year old tires, a fork brace is just a nice to have accessory.

Ya man, put the fork brace on the back burner and get some new tires for your ride.
