I bought an NOS inner fork tube on eBay. The seller described it as an inner fork tube for XS2(72) and TX(73) and had the correct Yamaha part number (although it was written on a piece of tape stuck to the tube). Since he had the p/n I assumed it was right. When I got it, it's 36mm! It looks just like my stock '73 tubes just thicker. It's not a '77-up tube as those are 35mm. Anyone know what bike it could be for? It is 23" long. Thanks

Tell the seller its a wrong part and if you don't get any satisfaction give them a negative feedback

I'm not positive but i think the 73/74TX 750 had smaller 34 or 35mm forks the triple 750 had 36mm

Ok, apparently I don't know what's in the barn or I can't run this measuring device correctly.

From this page, a very nice TX! tx750
"All the restoration work went relatively easy, and was surprised what parts are still available. The biggest problem was fork dust seals as the legs are 36mm diameter and were only used on the TX750 and TZ750"

So a rare thing, maybe worth hanging on to! I read a post somewhere saying they put 36mm into 35mm clamps with no bother, be good to know if they go into 35mm clamps!

yamaman I've wondered about that very swap but as 5twins pointed out I would still have old forks with old springs : ). RoyFisk has advised it doesn't work if I remember right.
