Nutrition health and Weight loss

Marty do you find your inflamation increases and decreases according to your carb consumption ?
How soon after quitting carbs again do you find your inflamation and joint pain deminishes?

I try to avoid carbs, even while away. I do have a weakness for good beer. I don't actually know where the problem is, because I don't know what I'm eating in a restaurant. I'm most suspicious of vegetable oils. I'm back to normal in five days. I feel bad today because my Mrs. brought home fried chicken last night. It comes from a local grocery and is delicious. Today, I'm irritable and suffering a headache, also I'm very hungry. All normal for the old me. I can't say for sure what the cause is, because of so many variables. I'm about to brew a cup of coffee and light up a cigar. Unhealthy, but calms my nerves.

To answer the question. Lowest weight returns in five days or less. Feeling good returns sooner than that.

I saw this posted some place I visit.
Sugar makes you hungry.
Carbs make you fat.
Vegetable oils make you sick.

Be careful. You might be putting on inflammation weight. I came back from a weekend getaway up six pounds. It goes away immediately when I get back to healthy eating. I'm not sure the cause of my gain. It could be grain or vegetable oils. I can do without the inflammation, especially in my cardiovascular system. Just eat more healthy food.
Not sure what you mean by inflammation weight?..I am still eating healthy..nothing processed of fast foods...but a stop at the local Bagel shop or the local breakfast place that has the freshly made southern bisquits...and some flat bread with my Tuna fish at lunch... Was eating some spaghetti with scallops and a pesto sauce...have otherwise stayed on the keto diet...

Thats remarkable M ........you have literally turned your life around ...well done .
Not only has your general health obviously improved but you should have significantly improved your heart health too.
Your blood pressure is astonishing like someone half your age. You are an inspiration

No wonder your Doctor is astounded :yikes:
Thanks..my BP is controlled by meds..but it has never been that 'normal' I dont believe i could stop taking those meds..i did try that about a year ago...After 3 days my headaches returned..so i knew then that it was not good to stop the meds...

If you get inflammation, you’ll put on water weight. Stop the inflammation source and that weight goes away immediately. Wheat is suspect in that regard. As much as I love pasta, I’ve had none since May.
Ah..ok..I do not believe that is the case here...but quite interesting to learn..thanks...

... What flour is used in the bread ? is it almond ?

Ok, Johnny, I just picked up another loaf.
Here's a pic of the backside labeling.

I have no idea what "Arrowroot Flour" or "Cassava flour" are, but it's good.

I asked them what else they have that's Keto friendly.

Oh, yum...?
Well, at least I don't have to hunt it, shoot it, skin it...

Wow..thats quite a store..Wish we had one around here...theres a keto kitchen but they only cook to order and make deliveries...maybe thats a good thing...LOL this isnt a cheap business...and neither are their products...

I found arrowroot in my local Kroger grocery store. HEB in Texas would have it. You know how to thicken gravy by adding flour to fat drippings? Arrowroot is an outstanding substitute.

I followed the recipe below at least twice. I can't get enough of it. I fried the pork chops in lard instead of what oil he used, and I thickened the gravy with arrowroot flour. I source those thick pork chops and bacon from a local butcher, right on the farm. Make some cauliflower to put that delicious gravy on.

Man, You guys show me I ain't missing nothing! I really feel for ya! Other than prostrate cancer in 2013, caught it early and took care of it, there ain't nothing wrong with me. People like me usually just keel over and die while in the field working or with their pecker in a sheep! GOD not that! The ole lady gets it all. I don't think she's 72. She moves like 105! I'm 6' 2" and 184. I can run a hundred yards, and right quick like depending whats after me! I eat anything I want, drink anything I want but I don't smoke! I do get short of air from time to time from all the packs of smokes I smoked while in the Navy. But if/when I turn 80, I'm gona hang off the biggest cigar I can find! It ain't far off. Mom lived to be 92. I took care of her the last year and a half of her life. Every two minutes she would ask me who I was. When she passed I didn't know what to do with my time! I had my life back. No way in hell am I gona stick around for that kind of shit. I want Steak, Taters, Whiskey, Horses, Yamaha & Honda and I got my eye on that big Cigar! My hats off to you guys!

how was the bread 2M ? :)

That store is extraordinary ..!.

it doesn't take long for enterprising food manufacturers to capitalise on a current food or nutrition lifestyle and produce lots of so called ' healthy food ' options does it !

Traditionally bread has never contained sugar and that loaf has a declared content of 2 grams of added sugar in every slice ... I suspect that that is in addition to the sugar contained in the added Honey

It just goes to show how ignorant food manufacturers are about nutrition . Sugar is sugar it doesn't matter whether it is in a natural form like honey and fruits or it is in a refined state like sugar...the body processes it just the same and it has the same detrimental effect in spiking Insulin and being deposited in the body as visceral fat.

In truth this is just the same refined carbohydrates masquerading as 'healthy' Paleo foods and to me it just demonstrates how easy it has been for food manufacturers to fool us into eating their unhealthy produce.

The whole point of keto style low carbohydrate diets of course is to eliminate sugar from the diet so that the body doesn't process the carbs into sugar and convert it into fat and store it around our organs . Food manufacturers are clever at finding ways around the added refined sugar problem by adding hidden sugars in a natural form such as fruits and honey and then claiming its 'real food' and therefore 'healthy ' sugars

Good catch, peanut.
I'm trying for zero carbs/sugars, but that stuff slips in there somehow.

My weight loss seems to be slowing.
But, I finally got down to 175lbs.

Belly flab is loosie goosie, extra skin there.
Trying to work it down...

so you're lookin a bit like a turkey lol. ;) .....thats always the downside of extreme weight loss isn't it ...:(

Nothing wrong with eating that bread I guess , I expect it is delicious with Honey. You should probably eat a little carbohydrate every day for the body to have an easy instant energy source especially when we get older and our metabolism slows down .

What I object to is how the manufacturers and retailers try to deceive us and make it out to be part of a low carb keto style diet intended to lower carbs and sugar when its absolutely loaded with sugar !

Whats the point of substituting Arrowroot non-grain flour to reduce the carbohydrate content and then add back a huge dollop of sugar ? They have to add the Honey otherwise it would taste disgusting .

On top of that its manufactured in a facility that also processes nuts ! a product that can cause anaphylactic shock and sudden death and warns the bread may contain pieces of nuts and shells ! :yikes:

Its about time that food manufacturers were held to account for all the chronic illness and deaths that are caused by all the sugar and additives in refined foods

In June....wife and I start'd to hit the gum.... I hate gym... we also look'd at our eat'n habits.... I quit diet sodas.. ( insert sad face here )…. we told ourselves.. we'll hit the gym for one year...I hate gym.... as to date.. we've both lost over 40 pounds prior to out vacation to China... dur'n our 10 day tour.. we each lost 10 pounds... we walk'n 4-5 hours aday…..I ate more rice in then days then the pass ten years. Next vacation will include strudels and schnitzel.... NO RICE.. ! I hate gym

Well I decided to allow some carbs back in and i gained 8 lbs..Not being happy with the noticeable gain in my bellyfat so we are back on keto..it has taken me almost 2 weeks to get back to ketosis... more difficult than i thought..but this a.m. I weighed in at 143# so we are back on the losing side of the equation once again...My little foray into regression was an eye opener..It takes very little to gain the weight back and takes alot of effort and more time to lose it through ketosis...I liked where i was @140# so thats where we are heading...I should be back to 140# sometime this week...
I find it quite incredible..this whole process...journey and reawakening of my awareness into my health and well being...Shedding the carbohydrates and the fat is something that up until 2 yrs ago i didnt even think i was in need of doing....
So we have our trials and tribulations in all endeavors...The ends do justify the means....

So it seems we're right back to where we were..trusting others to process your food and to claim the benefits we aspire to have are actually in conflict with one another..It just goes to prove that processed foods even the "healthy" choices are not so 'healthy" afterall...
Is this any real surprise? Not to me..Nothing can beat making...baking... cooking whatever from scratch ..with fresh ingredients. As usual you have to take control if you expect the results you expect to get from this....
You really must read the labels carefully...
