Whats your weather right now?

We liked it in Jersey too..lots of family and friends..but after 35 yrs we just could not afford to live there anymore...10 yrs ago our property taxes were $10,000...coupled with unemployment and we were just being smothered to death...Thats $100000 we didnt have to pay to the state of NJ...In comparison we have paid something like $6000 in total for the 10 yrs of property taxes here in NC.. soooooo...In retrospect we are very happy we left NJ..will the last person to leave NJ please turn off the lights...
Yes, Ray, not cheap to live here. But I've lived here all my life. I read that people that stay in the same house with the same spouse make out the best., so I chose carefully and my town has some of the lowest taxes in the county, because this was the first town in the country with a shopping mall, and we've had the highest retail per capita for several years. The stores pay the greatest share of property taxes. And I hold the distinction of being one of the first "mallies" :).

Ben..not Ray...Robbinsville NJ has some of the highest property taxes in the state...The same property we sold in 2009 is now $15000 per year..due in quarterly installments ya know...I have no connections to any place except for Tucson AZ...That is where my heart is...everywhere else is just a place to live..so we had no qualms about leaving NJ...Like I said..we aint lookin back....
BTW its going to be sunny and 60* today..still too cold to ride for me....Y'all have a great day!

2M. Didn't know the grackles showed in Fredericksburg also. Many years ago a reporter friend of mine left the paper late at night and stoped by Walmart on the way home. As she was walking around she looked down an isle and saw a guy with a rifle. She ran out of the store and called the police. They show up with the swat van and stormed the store. Turned out it was Walmart employees with air rifles hunting grackles inside the store. The store manager begged us not to print the story.

Sadly Monday night a walmart employee showed up even more heavily armed.

Sorry, Ben...We both have our roots. I was in basic training with a farm boy from Iowa who introduced himself and said," I've never been 50 miles from home, before, and never plan to leave, again."

That’s too funny, my family came from farms in Iowa and NW Missouri, and I have cousins that are exactly the same way. They have no desire to step off their own farm.

When Shop Rite, a grocery store chain, first came to my town, they also sold army surplus decomissioned M-1 rifles and bayonettes in bins, along with canteens. They were rusty, musty affairs, with the leather straps falling off. In the same store, I bought a 45 rpm record, entitled,"My Daddy is President" and waited in line to have it autographed by Little Jo Ann who represented Caroline Kennedy in the song, and also the LP comedy album by Sean Meader who imitated Kennedy. Shortly thereafter, John F. Kennedy was killed by a sniper. I have nothing against guns and don't want to start a discussion. But I am recalling personal recollections to demonstrate how our society has changed. I mentioned this before, but after the Murraugh Federal Building in Oklahoma was blown up by Timothy Mcveigh, Charles Manson was asked what he thought of that and he said," In my time, I was crazy and that really meant something. Now, everone's crazy."

Rain rain rain here. Not supposed to clear out until late tomorrow. Yesterday about 1PM , I was working on my bike in the garage, it’s normally so bright from the sun slanting in, that sometimes I have to lower the door down halfway. Dark clouds rolled in fast and I was like.....who turned out the lights.

Well I guess in a way that is not far from the way I am. Live right now all of 12 miles from the house I grew up in.

I have traveled a little mostly in the north eastern USA and southeaster Canada including a couple trips to Nova Scotia, once by sidecar. Did go on a 28 day cruise that got me all the way to Hawaii, Tahiti and American Samoa. First and last time I will do that again if I can help it! Time at the various islands were okay but so brief almost not worth getting off the damn boat. could get a better feel for the places watching a show on the Smithsonian Channel. Most of the time felt like cattle heading to the slaughter house! Sit wait hurry hurry sit wait!

Wife says she'd rather shoot herself than go on a "prison ship"

WOW!!!! That has to be unusual.

Yeah, we’ve been in the middle of an unusually strong winter storm for days now. We went from having one of the driest years on record, to getting a couple of inches of rain in about 48 hours. Northern Arizona has some mountainous areas that get winter snow and once in a while a really strong front can push that weather down into the desert. It is rare, but hail and more rarely, snow flurries can happen, but it melts almost immediately.
