my 1979 xs 650 special (Australian compliance) seat is quite slippery and when I brake /accelerate I slip around a lot, it is a smooth cover with no pattern so I don't know if it is original. Cover has been on since at least since 1998 when it was laid up and has a small burn on the side. I am looking at replacing the seat cover and was wondering if any recommendations on supplier as there are a few to choose from, all with an embossed pattern

Locate .. oem-replica.. Pit Seat.. on ebay… out of Taiwan…. excellent covers. If they don't have it.. send the old cover to his shop.. he'll use it as a pattern… and send you a excellent copy. For free ! . He did this for my 450P Honda (solo)….got a free one.. but bought a replacement for future use since the 450P is a keeper.
I have a local guy that does very nice covers.. $$$... I usually go with basket weave on the top...plain on sides.. with French stitching Xs P seat.jpg . in white.

Slick seat on a Special while running the rototiller handle bars is a recipe to sell.....lol
I'm running a Saddlemen cover on my '77 and it's got grip for me arse. The initial fitment looked like it would be a little questionable but it worked out and looks good.

wanting some opinion on different suppliers have come across pit replica, hondsasvintage and old school covers. wanting to know if there were anyrecomendations

I bought a seat and gas tank for a guy and the seat had this Travelcade cover on it. It looks great and fits good. (see images)
I have also seen a Saddleman cover which was very nice.
I bought the one that Yamahadude listed. Haven't put it on yet, but it looks like a nice one.
