The SL350 was pretty hot for it's size......some years had good carbs, and different cam and pistons that cb/cl bikes.......
I haven’t done anything. Roland still has my carbs. But...I did do something else.Ive been restoring bikes one at a time for over 10 years now. I lived in a small townhouse for the first 5 or 6. One of my best friends told me years ago “ Gate, you gotta get these off the ground” OK. I did. First stage was a set of small plastic saw horses and a piece of plywood. Worked well. Second stage was my dining room table with the top removed and a piece of plywood screwed to the top. Worked well but needed a lot of manpower to get it off. Not any more. Santa came early. I bought a lift table. No more crouching over or getting on my back.View attachment 155339View attachment 155341View attachment 155341View attachment 155343
I hope I made the right decision. I searched and read stuff for days.Very nice. You won't regret it. I have 2 and would not mind having a third. Great for working on bikes and double as work benches.

Your 72 is so clean! Wow! Looks like you went back in time and bought it new. Very nice!I’m still waiting for Roland to go through my carbs. I bought them from a guy in Texas. Supposedly doing vintage carbs for years. The left side was seeping pretty good at the top of the float bowl. No dumping from the overflow. View attachment 154986 I checked the bowl screws. Good. Checked the float level while the carb was upside down. Good. At that point I took them both in last Monday. Rolands been racing in GA since last Wednesday. Actually won their 20 championship on Monday. 264 MPH at a 5.65 But I did order a new reg and a new rec for the XS2.
Going to give the old sun faded gauges some love soon.
Are those the decals that Diablo sells? If so I have an important price of advice. The two tiny little screws that hold the dial face on....if you tighten them up too tight you will twist and lift the decal and it will bubble right at the screws.
After talking to Diablo about this, their recommendation is to apply a tiny amount of blue locktite to the screw and just gently tighten them. Another alternative is to go to your hardware store and find some tiny black flat washers for those screws ( they do exist in that tiny size). That way the screw head does not contact the decal and won’t twist it.
Good luck with your job and post a couple photos when you’re done!
Look at the plug... You tell me. View attachment 155354
Thank you, Marty. I value your opinion.
Jerry, my 72 originals and my Mikes replicas are hermetically sealed. You can take yours apart? I had to dismantle mine with a grinding wheel.

I have not even looked them that closely. I'll figure it out this weekend or maybe next...
