Indomethacin Chapter...50mg/day. Sometimes double that..And trigger point Cortisone injections in my neck..shoulders and hands every 3 to 4 months...
Drugs do weird things to my head if I double the dosage. Luckily that doesn't happen often...
I have Arthralgia..and I ache regardless of if I move or not...Cant sleep on my sides as shoulders won't allow it...Only if heavily medicated..then ot will hurt later when the drugs wear off.
The best solution would be to relocate back to the desert southwest..Easier said than done..but the thought of doing so never leaves my mind...

My older brother had Rheumatoid arthritis and it disfigured his hands and feet...He was tough but hid behind the bottle..so he never saw any Drs...
Seems to me there's alot of folks here in a similar situation...
What works for you?

I take 500 mg turmeric in the morning and another 500 mg in the evening. It makes a noticeable difference. I've been on it for about two years. I think it started working in about a month. A month ago I started stinging nettle root. It helps too. Four months ago, I gave up all vegetable or seed oils and quit eating any grain. I still have arthritis, but I can turn my head again. My right knee seems to be getting better too! I'm not crazy about the desert and I prefer not to go there. What I'm doing isn't magic, but it is working.

Moving to Arizona is really not an option..were too comfortable to pull up the roots we have established here..
I will look into Tumeric and Stinging nettle root..never heard of that one...

Will check out the videos soon..my phone is my only internet connection today..so it isn't the best for viewing stuff..Later I can get on a computer in the public library..Yes we still have libraries....

Turmeric is for Rheumatory arthritis..I have Arthralgia related to sports injuries incurred over the years..from Skiing ..running..mountain biking...Plus Turmeric isn't cheap....So I am not certain it would work for me.

I don't have rheumatoid arthritis, so I know nothing about it. Turmeric is cheap at Costco or Wally World. Buy it at the grocery and shake it on your food! Stinging nettle grows widely in North America. It's nutrient dense, but it bites your fingers. The root is anti-inflammatory. Buy it where herbs are sold.

Indomethacin Chapter...- - - What works for you?

Hi max,
Santa got me the club's T-shirt a few years back.
White drawing on black ground shows front view of a helmeted skeleton on a Harley.
Top rocker reads "Sons of Arthritis" bottom rocker reads "Ibuprofen Chapter".
What works for me is the pure good fortune that at age 82 I can still drag my arse out of
bed in the morning and get through the day without the help of anti-inflammatory meds.

Hi Fred..Yes I have seen that logo..patch on bikes jackets etc..That was the inspiration..however I don't take Ibuprofen...but Indomethacin..Actually both are in the same class of drugs known as NSAIDS..Ibuprofen is over the counter. Indomethacin is by prescription only...
82...Bless you...

Had 2 rounds of trigger point injections this week..Why 2? because trying to quantify where your pain is..Isnt easy..trying to find the spot where that is....and it isnt always in the same place...Its still somewhat of a guess. But we covered all the "hot spots' and I am feeling no pain for the first time in several months..
My Dr does not like me to come in any sooner than 3 months for these shots. the problem is they only last for 2 months..so now the interval has been reduced to 2.5 months. If i need to come in sooner..just call to schedule an appt... Hate to say this is my only recourse to deal with the chronic pain..Once the pain sets in it will sap your energy and even your will to live...it never goes away and without relief it eventually becomes unbearable....
I'm thankful i have this to fall back on..It may not be the best way but it is the only way to deal with my chronic pains...And in 3 months time we'll be doing this again(or sooner)
While I havent given up hope with homeopathic remedies they do take time since i havent even truly persued those modalities..
I used to take Glucoseamin/Chondroitin for my knees..It would take a good month to see the positives..it did work to alleviate my knee pains due to both water skiing and snow skiing injuries. I am uncertain how this Glucoseamin will interact with my keto diet...

Bought this at wal-mart today..to commence with homeopathic modalities...Should take a month before seeing any benefits...We'll see...There are a few other types and brands of Turmeric on the shelf. But this was the only brand that came in 1000mg per cap.. The others were 500mgs. I found this to be interesting about absorbtion but i dunno if its just marketing hype or not...$20 for a monthly supply...But it looks to be the best product on the shelf...

I am sure I have undiagnosed arthritis, but my major issue currently is Martin’s Neuroma in my feet. It’s the swelling of the major nerves that runs between your metatarsal bones in the balls of your feet. It’s very painful and I’ve been dealing with it for close to a year now. Going in for follow up tomorrow and possibly cortisone shots in my feet. NOT FUN! I’m turning 45 in about 2 weeks, but I walk like I’m 80 years or older. I eat ibuprofen like pez candy. Custom orthotics are in my near future but need to wait until the first of the year for insurance reasons. I also have extremely high arches and very wide feet. Hard to find good shoes in a 6E width. Also dealing with a side of Plantar Faciitis to boot. I’m too young for this shit!

Turmeric, when taken with fresh black pepper is touted to be more "bioavailable" meaning better absorbed into the system. This was espoused by an internet source of the combined product......I now find 1000mg turmeric with black pepper at Dollar General stores and have been taking it for a few years, Results are good. but not a cure and the effects are mild, not taking away pain but making it more tolerable. Beware the "some is good so more is better" thinking because high doses will cause diarrhea!

Today I got 4 cortisone shots in my feet. Holy fuck balls that hurt! I about stood right up in that reclining chair. First time for cortisone for me. The afternoon at work I still hobbled around a bit but that was because my feet were numb and felt like I had bars of soap under my feet in my shoes. Got to say though, tonight is the best they have felt in about 6 months. I’m curious to know how long this bandaid will last. Doc said they will only give cortisone 3 times per year. Orthotics are next month and if that don’t fix I’m looking at surgery to cut the nerves out. Talking 4-6 week recovery time!

I feel ya Willis. I've had Morton's neuroma in both feet for over a year now. Actually prolly like 5 yrs but they've gotten real bad in the last year. I've had 3 rounds of those shots and yeah.... a whole new level of pain I never knew existed. Unfortunately, the shots do very little for me. I hope they work better for you. My foot Doc now wants to do a "Gastroc Recession." They cut a tendon in your calf to lengthen it allowing you to walk more on your heels and less on the balls of your feet. He's of the opinion (and I agree) that I've spent my life walking/balancing on the balls and that's what's caused the neuromas. Good luck on the shots.

I know this is nothing like a long term problem can be, but.....I had my doctor burn out a Plantar Wart (sp?) from the bottom of my heal one time. I didn't watch to see what he used to burn it out with but I envisioned something like a soldering iron or wood burning pen. I screamed so loud with other patients nearby. He was so disgusted with me and I laughed all the way out of the building.

Got the cortisone shot in my knee one time....the number he used before the cortisone worked real good... the cortisone, nothing! When the number shot wore off there was no improvement AT ALL . Maybe what is messed up in my knee is something that cortisone doesn't work on... was told the big cartilage in that joint was cracked. MRI told them that but all I can do is deal with it. No knee replacement surgery for this guy, too long recovery and I don't have a knee at all on the other side to use while recovering......

I'm diabetic, high blood pressure and a few other things so I take pills by the handful.
I have old injuries in both wrists. The left is worse.
It got so bad that when I poured out my pills in my hand and closed my hand so as not to drop them when I picked up my glass of water I couldn't open my hand to toss the pills in my mouth. Had to set down water, open my left hand with my right, then toss in the pills and drink the water.
The Glucosamine Chondroitin helps with this.
The Specialist says not much can be done on my wrist. If it gets very bad they can cut out some of the bones. This may help.
As a diabetic I have neuropathy in my feet. I use a cream I get at Wally world that helps, It got so bad I couldn't sleep. The DR has me on gabapentin. It helps. If I take as much as they say my vision gets blurry. So I have to balance pain against vision.Hell of a choice.
I have shoulder issues too. I'm talking to the DR's about that now. My need another specialist.
I sleep on my side. First one then the other. Turning as I sleep. I can't sleep on my left side, hurts my shoulder. It hurts my right but not so much.
At least my back doesn't hurt so much.
Leo
