What have you done to your XS today?

Haven't been on site much. Been busy working on the Honda trying to finish up. Did odds and ends today. Got hex head screws coming tomorrow for carb bowls. All I like is putting on the carbs, air filter box and side covers. Tomorrow evening I hope to roll her out and fire her up. The next few day around X-mas are supposed to be in the mid to high 60's, so I may be able to put a few miles on the Honda and Yama. The Honda has been about 60 days straight work. One of the Grandsons said "why do you need two motorcycles?" I said "Same reason you need two girl friends!" (I'm looking around for the tank Jim was working on a couple weeks back, to see how it turned out). Last but not least, I want to wish everybody, here, there, yond and down-under, a Very Merry Christmas!

Cleaned out my carbs, took apart a leaky petcock and reassembled it. New spark plugs because damnnnnn these 7year old plugs looked like charcoal.

Still trying to narrow down why she seems to stall out after riding for 5-10 minutes when coming to a complete stop.

Would a dead battery cause this? Battery in it currently is 100% hosed right now as is.

If you have carb cleaner, start your bike and spray with hose in can to pin point location of air leak. Dont forget to check throttle rod seals on both sides of each carb.

Well I gave myself a Christmas present this morning. At least I think I did. After weeks of struggling with what I thought was a 38mm Mukini VM carb on a long 2-1 intake I discovered I had a 34mm VM and finally I was able to get both pilot jetting and main jetting to both work. Next I plan to add a UFO. http://thunderproducts.com/product/u-f-o-ultimate-flow-optimizer/

I went from Triumph Bonneville rear shocks to the el cheapo eBay variety. I thought the Bonneville shocks were a little stiff. Anyway, I liked the looks of the reservoir shocks and the price was certainly right. I can't say they are an overall improvement over the Bonneville shocks but so far, they are not a downgrade.

Changed the oil after running the engine in the bikeport for a while. Oil looked pretty good. Plugs looked pretty clean with little swarf on them. The weather was kinda warm and the sun was out well, most of the time. Took the SG out for a run around the base. Tomorrow promises to be even better.

Added 70miles to the Odometer between yesterday and to day's outings. Sun was out and it was warm 60's+ and the road was calling. Not trying to rub it in to our snowbound breathern. When your out in summer, we desert dwellers are inside because it's no fun to be out riding in an oven of 105-110+.

Add 90% humidity to that 100 degrees and you get to experience Summer here in the Southeast. But yeah, I feel ya'. Rode a few miles yesterday myself, in the 60s here too.
