hi guys
I am looking for a recommendation for a new twist grip/ throttle housing for my flat tracker project.
I am using a standard throttle cable but want a throttle housing that does not have any electrics on it.
My bike is battery less and I don't want any wiring at all on the handlebars.
Can anyone recommend something suitable.
Many thanks
Gareth

Magura makes some nice units. Need to check to be sure they're compatible with your handlebar diameter.

A consideration of your desired over all grip length is a factor.
I've found motocross(dirt) grips to be both shorter and smaller in overall grip diameter than street grips.
The length of your front brake lever to be used will also affect the desired linear location on the bars.

I sprung for a Domino MX2 because I wanted something ‘racey’ & the throttle body was alloy so I could polish it, it came with three slightly differing cams for varying stroke (race, normal & wet)

If you want to go cheap, I've got the answers.

This will work with zero modifications to your stock cable when used with stock carbs. Will polish up nicely. Only catch is that you will either have to mount it upside-down, or live with the cable going over the top, which is how it was intended on the old dirt bikes it came on. I have a long list of other Yamaha models that used it, if anyone's interested.

My other cheap pick. Comes in black too. Has a position holder for "cold morning start-ups." This one requires shortening the sheath on the stock cable a little, very doable, I can show how if anyone's interested.
I have used both, they both absolutely get the job done with zero issues.

Here is another very nice throttle with no electrics. Plain aluminum that will polish up nicely. Best of all, it is from an XS650 -- specifically the 1970 XS1, and 1971 XS1B.
Only problem is that the four parts you'll need - the upper and lower caps, the tube, and the cable holder -- are kind of spendy on eBay -- about $50 -- unless you wait and get lucky and someone comes along selling the whole assembly at a reasonable price.

Yes, it is dual cable. However, it will work with a single cable. I'm going to be doing it in the next couple weeks. It's not that hard to lengthen or shorten a cable ssheath if that is what is required. When I do mine I'll report on whether and how I change sheath length.
