What have you done to your XS today?

Great score!
PS it's the LH lower cover that's a hen's tooth.
Well, I've got one on my '83!

I finally installed signal lights after 44 years. Don't know if they can be seen in the sunlight, though, because the Sun hasn't been out for days. Need a decent/bright indicator light and I need a 3 or 4 prong flasher to light just one bulb. Here's the original flasher with about 50 k miles of vibrations.

I obtained a new right side cover and plan on engraving dragon scales and the traditional Japanese sun just above the kick start. With a good old xs 650 on top.

Then I had an Idea and wanted to know if I can take the Tach rode out of the housing and tap some threads in the hole and put a small oil pressure gauge? Would that work?

im like a little kid right now, soooo ecited to see this engraving take place, don't forget to show us the tool used to do the work
one of the reasons is I do hand tooled leather , like for seats, and ive been looking into the engraving stuff, as another outlet for my nerotic need to spend way to much time making something cool lol

I'm just using a hand Dremel with a few bits lol. I'm still saving up for an engraving machine. I can't think of the name of what it's called, I think it's a jewelers engraver. But yeah all my engraving work on my bike is just with the same Dremel and bits lol. I also have a slightly addictive neurotic awesome sauce must create something cool as fuck all day everyday personality as well. haha. Do you see that king queen seat on my bike in my pics? would you be able to re-upholster it? and how much? :D

Can't wait to see the engraving.
No the tach hole isn't into pressurised oil..
There ARE some plugged oil gallery holes nearby but you will need a very low pressure gauge, 2many did the work. cold you MIGHT see 5lbs quite a bit less once warmed up.

So realistically it's moderately pointless to have? unless maybe for a race bike. I'll send updated photos on the engraving in a few days.

Going to attempt to rebuild these petcocks. Also is there a flat gasket that goes between tank and petcock or is it just the rubber o ring ?

The sun was out, so here's the pics. I know, whoopy freakin do! Ordered some diodes for my indicator light. I definitely need them, as I can't see them blinking and tend to leave them on FOREVER!

Oh, and yes I see that my right front blinker is not straight. It was bent up from an accident in 76. I guess I bent it down too far.
