Now here's a good one for you

I looking for the lamp stay packing (256-23163-60-00) that fit on top of the Outer covers (256-23122-60-00)

The early XS1's had tapered headlight brackets (upper covers) that changed from XS1B onwards (I think). Anyway, when they changed, they changed to non tapered. According to the Yamaha parts manuals I have, the part numbers are the same for all models but the part is very definitively different as the XS1 item is wider than the rest!

Would anyone out there have the correct part number for the XS1 ONLY lamp stay packing?

Thanks

Ant

What is the interior diameter and exterior diameter of your part # 19, and what is the diameter of your part # 20 where it contacts that part?

Okay, so:-

Part 19 exterior diameter 52mm, interior diameter 37mm and the external diameter if the ear is 32mm

Does that help?

Ant
Ant, the external diameter of the ear can't possibly be 32mm. That would be smaller than the fork tube, which is 34mm. I think maybe you meant to say that the external diameter of the ear is 42mm ?
In any case, have you actually tried using part # 256-23163-60-00 ? It may not completely fill the recess of the "Guide, Cover Lower," that it fits into, but I think it might still work? Sorry, I can't be more help than that. I have a lot of different of those gaskets (packings), but none seem to be even close to the dimensions of your guide.

Hi

Argh! Mu apologies, here are the correct measurements:-

Part 19 external diameter 57.5mm
Part 19 internal diameter 37.0mm
Part 20 external diameter 53mm

Here's some photos if this helps, first one is an XS1 where part number 18 is incorrect, photo 2 is XS2 where its correct!

HELP!!!!

You may never find the right part number. I looked at three different XS1 parts catalogs, all were wrong.
I still think the packing in your picture will work. The interior diameter and the height appear correct. Just fill the rest of the space with RTV silicone.
If you are lucky, you might be able to find a square-profile o-ring that will fill the gap.

Or, use a round o-ring together with RTV.
