Yeah.... I know, it's an enricher, not a choke.
Any way, I'm converting my 80 SG to a cable operated choke. I have everything I need except for the bits to attach to the carbs.
So... before I reinvent the wheel here, anyone got any closeup pics of their 81 and up carbs they can give me on how the cable attaches to the carbs? None of my IPC's show enough detail to know how it attaches. Thanks guys.

You'll need an additional bracket that goes on top of the carbs to clamp the cable sheath, and a different end bracket for the choke rod that holds the ball on the end of the cable .....

The parts drawing shows them pretty well .....

These might be difficult to make. Maybe gggGary could help you out?

I'll also mention that the choke cable itself is N.L.A. but it was also used on the Venture Royal touring bike so they pop up on eBay quite a bit. I scored a N.O.S. one to replace my fraying original recently for a bit less that $20. Not super cheap but probably no more than I would have had to pay Yamaha for one if available.

Gary, how'd those carbs work with the brackets UNDER the carb tops, lol.

Was wondering how long it would take for someone to notice THAT!
No longer remember the details, but I see it's in a bike so I'm sure Jimmy Bob was having some running issues.
I've dragged home some lulu's.

So far I have extra hs choke rods with brackets but havent found a bracket for the cable end.

Thanks guys... helps a lot.
So, the tie rod detent ball and spring are removed in this setup?

Be aware that the way the enricheners on the individual carbs themselves are activated is different between the two setups - pull knob or cable .......forget exactly how, it's been awhile that I did a conversion......something with the brass tips that the forks attach too ( as the mental fog dissipates ).

Was going to call nj1639 a liar but son of a gun he's right!
Later with nylon bushings on left. They will interchange on the rods as sets.
