Rear wheel wiggles..thoughts pls...

First of all, you need to clarify whether the front end of the swing arm moves sideways inside the frame. If that is the case, either the grease seals are missing, or you need to add shims.
If the front end/pivot area does not move sideways, but the aft end of the swing arm moves, something is worn out or badly manufactured. It could be the bronze bushings, the steel sleeves, or the pivot bolt. Or a combination of wear on all 3. I would disassemble, de-grease, and check where slack/play can be found. Ideally, everything should be a light slip fit without any significant play. If you find play between pivot bolt and sleeves, you need to measure the bolt to determine what is worn. Likewise with the steel sleeves vs bronze bushings. Since you in any case need to disassemble, it makes sense to clean and check everything thoroughly, instead of just installing new bushings and hope for the best.

Surely you have some basic tools, like spanners, sockets and a hammer? That is pretty much all you need to remove the swing arm from the frame. Then you need a long punch, or just a suitable piece of small diameter round bar or tubing, for removing the worn bushings from the swing arm. To fit new bushings, you need a piece of 1/2" to 3/4" all thread, 2 large washers and 2 nuts. Just use the all thread to pull the new bushings into the swing arm. Easy peasy.
Appreciate the encouraging suggestions...I am going to be re-reading the related threads this weekend..and perhaps early next week dive into it...My tools are basic yamaha XS1100 tools...But before anything as you said..I need to determine how it is moving first... I would get out there today but we're having a cold snap..So next week it will warm back up to the 70's ..its 28* in the shed...and so is the bike..

Just looking at it with the wheel on...

I think this will turn out very simple for you Ben. The wheel and shocks are coming off anyway so when it is apart simply pump some grease in there and sinch down that swingarm pivot nut some and I'll betcha the play will become acceptable.
Grease until you see and hear the grease oozing right out that very crack !

Chain is crap...it was new from mikesXs 6 yrs ago and only 5000 miles on it and its stretched to its limit..POS...I am not impressed with the quality or lack thereof from MikesXS parts...

Yes, your swingarm pivot looks pretty dry. Yes, you need a grease gun. You can pick one up most anywhere for around $20. Even HF has them and the grease tubes to go along with them. HF has some good brand name greases (Sta-Lube) at reasonable prices.

Not sure exactly when it happened, but some of the earlier bikes have a larger style grease nipple that our American grease guns won't fit. If yours has them, you'll need to swap them out .....

A 1980 model should have the "regular" American style fittings so you should be good to go there. You'll want to pump grease into both ends of the swingarm until you see it oozing out between the arm and frame. Do it about once a season. The only other grease fitting you may have is on your rear brake pedal pivot shaft. This one was discontinued on later models but my buddy's '80 SPII has one .....

My '83 didn't come with one but I swapped in an older pivot shaft that had it. You can see just how worn the original shaft was getting because it couldn't be kept greased .....

The new old style one will get greased regularly .....
