You can machine enough off to get an extra stock disc in. I think it has been posted a few different places. Although with the thinner discs you could probably get 9 in with machining.

This is a better way than buying a gs1000 kit like I did. I just wanted it fast and figured out the right kit to buy.

Can you expand on that?
There is another thread on here about 8 plate clutches from ins, but easiest way to find it is go onto xscafe site then look up clutch a few posts down the page you'll find 8 plate clutch conversion, the only thing that's missing from this is the fact you need to skim the back off the inner hub as well or it rubs against the basket and check the length of the length of the spring screws as they can hit the basket as well,
I didn't take mine from these measurements I was lucky enough to be talking to a mx sidecar racer who had the original set up that Halco copied from him, so I borrowed his and had copies made leaving a spare one as a template for when I took his back

Got a call back from Alto. Going ahead with an order, They will produce them, he forecast an 8 week lead time, so early March. Said he will update if that changes. Glad I started on this mid winter!

What comes in the kit and are there any additional parts needed for this conversion and do we send the money now or after you receive the clutches?

Still kind of working out details.
NO money until I have parts in my hand ready to ship.
Ippytattoo offered
8 Alto plates
8 Alto plates with 1 "good" used steel
8 Alto plates or with 1 or 7 new steels for as long as new Yamaha steel plates are available
that seems like a good plan.
Might keep a tickler list to contact those interested when the Alto plates arrive.

Heard from Alto; after one false positive call  they are now saying late March for plate delivery.
