looking for a frame, motor, project in general. I am in canada, I am close to Toronto and the watertown, NY border. frame with ownership would be a plus, but not a deal breaker. looking to build a chopper. thanks all! cheers.

I have what you need. I’d meet you in Cleveland, Ohio.Maybe somewhere else?
I haven’t crossed the border since 911. I don’t have a passport either. I have one frame, motor, etc that I had listed on here.

Hi 88_pony
I am near Chatham, you sound like you are on the other side of Toronto.
If you want you can PM me, we may have already been in touch on Kijiji.

I never shoulda swung at the first pitch. Have you got any links? They would be most appreciated. thanks.
Ed, Click on your "Home" page at the top of your FB page, then on the left you'll see Marketplace. Click on that , then in the search bar up top write in "Yamaha XS650". scroll down farther and farther, and you will get increasingly distant ads, eventually those from CNY and PA. there is one in northern PA.

Is that the going price for a more or less complete XS650 in what I would call fair unrestored condition?

Maybe I should get my butt to the DMV and get a clear title for the 1978 out on the lift in the garage.

Other than the title paperwork all it needs is oil in the rebuilt forks, a non-cracked rear tire and a battery. I have had it running last fall, but does have an undiagnosed leak possibly the clutch rod seal or the front sprocket.

Well, Ken, the "going price" really depends on your bargaining skills, IMHO.
Case in point:
The '82 Heritage Special I bought last month was running, complete, unmolested, titled.
The seller was initially quite firm on his price of $1250.
After a week of evaluating the bike and working on him (haggling), I got him down to $700.
So, what was the going rate? $1250 or $700?

From what I can see in that picture you got a good/fair deal.

Thing is just going by the descriptions an picture posted by some people they would expect to get the $1,250,00 for the 1982 I have in the garage. It starts most of the time but needs attention to the starter gears. The original wire wheel were changed to cast spokes due to condition of the original rims. Paint is very rough and crazed with surface rust. Engine is not original but the original one is on the bench needing attention to the transmission, I think the real problem is the screw in the end of shift drum was loose and or bent.

Thinking that if I was trying to sell it as is I would either have to take half or less of what you paid or get lucky and find a sucker who has more money than brains.

Just my humble opinion, Ken, but I think you should get this '78 up and running and put it on the road.
Next year I could see you again at the Groton Old Home Days Vintage Bike Show on an Xs650.
Wouldn't that be a trip ?
