Old Brown

Been reading some discussions here about total advance. I agree that backing off the 1970's peak advance is probably a good idea. Here is the curve from a 85 xt 350 CDI Box

To quote the great philosopher Country Joe McDonald, "Whoopee we're all gonna Die"
Give me a "F"
..one, two, three...what are we fighting for, don't ask me, I don't give a damn, lets stop this Vietnam. Five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates. Don't have time to wonder why....(What TJ Said! ) :poke:

Yes, could be. Maybe it goes with that spare motor. That looks like an older one by the cam chain adjuster style.

The motor is a 76 447 motor. I think the forks, wheels and swing arm are 76 era also. Odd collection of parts. Coils for the 76 and what looks like a tci coil

Sorted through the pile o parts.

Spent the last week or two sorting through boxes of parts along with front end work on the truck Tetra finally getting back to the 650 which has decided it doesn't want to turn over anymore. Starter solenoid clicks but no response from the starter.Tried tightening the cables to no avail. After a search, found the solenoid from the XJ . If that won’t do it I have acquired a spare starter.

If a Ducati and a Harley got married what would their offspring be called?

A Duckster

I have a new TCI box to try

1983 Kawasaki Duckster KLT 200
81 – 84 KLT200
82 – 84 KLT250
84 KLT250-P1 (Police)
78 - 82 KZ200

How serious could you take a cop riding a 250cc tricycle with Duckster on the side

OEM was Hitachi

Amazing, it says to login to see price on partzilla so maybe even the OEM box is still available.
EDIT : Google found a new OEM box for $510.00
Chinese 29.00

Same time period as the TCI 650’s. Uses a single pickup on a PMA flywheel ( I think)

TCI box so stock TCI coils and wiring will work.

Hopefully it will be happy to work with the stock TCI pickup.

That would be great if you've found a $29 TCI black box replacement but how would it hook up? The stock TCI unit has a 3rd pick-up wire, this one only has two.
