Bushyboy's build thread

Made it halfway around the island today before my tail light fell off and become an ornament on the side of the road. At least I got a picture before it was lost forever.

2 weeks in the field playing war games was long enough for all my parts to arrive for my front end project. I hope to have the 18” rim and brembo caliper fitted and operational by the end of this weekend.

A little mock up since I punctured my tire tube inadvertently on install. I will need to shave a little off the caliper mounting bracket to get the bolts to line up correctly and also get some shorter bolts. Looks pretty good in my opinion and the caliper is way lighter.

Waiting on the final part; an Aprilia 320 mm brake disc, but wanted to see how she sits. Not too shabby; I like the look so money well spent. Glad I decided to do this instead of inverted forks. After I finish I may do a how to thread for others who want to do the same modification (18” x 2.15" rim with 40 mm Brembo Caliper).

Well I finally got my brake master cylinder to match the Brembo. With any project nothing is ever that easy of course. The brake lever requires a little bit of modification or a shorter clutch cable. I am going to pull out the grinder tomorrow and see if I can shave enough off the lever to install it in the old bracket. I would do it tonight but I will try and keep the peace with my neighbors during this pandemic. If I am unsuccessful with my redneck engineering then I guess I will just use the old clutch lever and return back to the drawing board.

How much material did you end up having to shave off the bracket? Do you think this setup would work on a 2.5" wide wheel?

One good thing about this stay at home order is I can work on my bike. I just wish I had more parts lol. Tore the carbs down cleaned, inspected them, and added rubber to the T fuel connector. Then I synced carbs and adjusted them. Still bored I am going to fix this rat nest of wires.

I’d say it’s a little more tidy now for the time being.
