Hey guys, so I bought a new stainless line today for my front brake! So am I okay to run the line from the master cylinder directly to the caliper?? Reason I ask is because the stock set up had a line from the master cylinder to a L shaped fitting that mounted to the bottom of the triple tree and then another line down to the caliper! Does a guy need that L shaped piece or was that just how they ran brakes stock?? Hope this makes sense to you fellas and any help would be appreciated!!

Run her straight on down there, no you do not need the L-shaped manifold (unless you were doing duals). In fact its probably better

On mine I have 2 SS lines. One that runs from the master cylinder to the banjo bolt and then that runs from there to the caliper.

It'll work fine as either one or two pieces. If you're using one from Mikesxs, there's a trick I learned. Slide the black sleeve back and hold the metal crimp still with a pliers while you tighten the nut on the end fitting. You can route it anyway you want real easily that way.

I'm happy to be of some small service. Pamcopete put a rubber padded clamp where the L-fitting used to be, to hold his single line. An Adel clamp it might have been called.

An Adel clamp is a common hardware item used in Aviation for routing lines, usually electrical. I just did that to My bike, ran a braided line straight down to the caliper , eliminating the ell. Cleans up the front a little more.

On some years the L shaped block also has the brake switch mounted on it. If you remove it on those years your brake light won't light when you use the front brake.

Xjwmx is right - never twist the braided hose in order to get the end fittings mated up square with the m/c or the caliper.
