So I've been in the game with my xs rehab project and have engaged various online parts stores with differing degrees of success. I just want to get a feel from the community about everyone else's experiences so I know what to check out for what going forward. I'll offer my experiences and I just want some feedback from others.

Mikesxs - Fresh into my rebuild this was the first place I found and the first that was recommended. I bought a lot of parts from here. For the most part my experiences were good but a few have rubbed me the wrong way. Shipping generally was free with large orders however if I ever needed a small order the shipping prices they were quoting was always outrageous. I bought few parts that I thought were poorly made. One being a choke lever which looked like it was a cheap tin and bent out of place almost immediately due to the weakness of the metal. The next one I had a part that didn't fit and was slightly off of what would be standard measurements. Rather than get a replacement or refund that I thought I was going to get they basically fought me on it the whole way until I just gave up. I could have bought a used part on ebay for 80% less and chose not to because a fresh part had certain advantages but now I regret that decision. For the most part I like their selection but I now try to look elsewhere for stuff if I can. Prices are always a little high for my liking.

Partzilla - Havn't used them much and the reason for that from my end is really that every time I look for parts there their prices are always the highest of all other options and the shipping rates are always ridiculous. Wondering what others think.

Niche Cycle Supply - This has been my favorite place right now. Parts I get have always been quality. The shipping costs and parts costs generally are reasonable. The parts arrive timely, even now in the shut down. They just don't have as much selection as I would want. I would probably buy all my stuff here if they had more stuff.

Partsfish - I like their diagrams and their index. I also love that they offer stupid little parts that I'm always breaking or losing. Prices are fantastic. Shipping rates are fantastic. However, I placed one order from here, didn't receive any confirmation, and am still waiting for the shipment sometime later and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to get my package.

Any others? What is everyone elses thoughts on the online places?

Shipping by post office or courier has got really expensive unless you are Amazon who
gets a huge discount paid for by everyone else. Subsidized or free shipping just does not fly
on small orders unless the vendor wants to lose money. For OEM new old stock see Speed & Sport
in Pa. ( really expensive ). Mikes used to be good but I see they are switching from Taiwan to China
so the quality is going down. The owners have No good technical expertise so to them it's all the same.
Japan produces only a handful of items and there is NO aftermarket XS650 suppliers there. Taiwan makes
good stuff at a fair price but you have to tell them exactly what you want ( Tech specs/Material/finish etc. ).
A lot of parts & Bikes are made for Japan there and sold by Yamaha as being made in Japan.
Yamaha has stopped making all XS650 parts unless the same item is used on new bikes. I know that there
is a supplier ready to open after the virus thing is done.

MikesXS: Premium shipping. Very fast. Some great parts, some I won't consider. I tried to combine with my Dime City account, but they can't or won't, even though in the same building. I use DCC because my account auto applies veteran discount.

Partzilla; OEM best prices overall. Also great on aftermarket. Painfully slow shipping on small orders. Extremely S L O W

2Fast Moto; I like them. Fast and free shipping on some stuff

Rocky Mountain ATV: I get tires and Yamalube stuff here. I can't beat it.

650 Central: Best overall 650 guy. Call him. Tell him what you want. Parts may come with advice. winner winner

I don’t know think anyone mentioned it yet but bikebandit.com is another one I use as well as eBay and cruzinimage

For many of us, MikesXS is at the very bottom of our parts supplier list. You can usually find their stuff cheaper elsewhere, and often of better quality too. I use them mostly for a reference to see what might be available and to know what NOT to pay for it, lol.

This might not apply exactly, cause it's not Yamaha XS 650 specific, but McMaster-Carr is an excellent supplier of all sorts of stuff you might need. Best search engine and easiest website to navigate that I have ever encountered.

In addition to what's been posted, I have had some success with https://yambits.co.uk/ I've only purchased a few things and the int'l shipping has it's costs/delivery time...but I've found hard to find parts here from time to time. And the parts have been quality.

Yes, I have found that Yambits seems to stock parts that the others do not and while international shipping can be a bit costly, the parts I ordered came promptly and were of good quality.

I have used Yambits a few times, partly because they're here in the UK. Had an issue once with a chain splitter tool which wasn't up to the job - I contacted them, they promptly refunded and told me to keep the tool. So I'd say the service is good.
