Thinking about ignition system as I rebuild my engine.
I have been looking at crank based systems and came across the Electrex World system. Looks good but only gives out 50 watts power from alternator. I would have to go with LED for all lighting.
Anyone use this and have an opinion? How does it get on with the lighting?

The next option is the Vape system, much more juice from alternator at 180w but twice the price.

Opinions welcome.

That is pretty much a battery less system . The 50w rating is probably at somewhere north of 5000rpm. At more likely cruise rpms it's probably not putting enough current to keep a led headlight and taillight alive. The 180 watt stator probably puts out 80-90 watts at cruise rpm. Enough to keep the lights on and put some charge on the battery.

I have installed 2 Electrex world stator only kits (non charging race kits) and 2 Vape (Power Dynamo, old name) ignition and charging kits.
Both types have proved reliable in race conditions and are well made. Both of them have decent gauged wiring and plugs.
The Vape can be a bit fiddly tightening the rotor without it moving but you can make a tool to hold it if you want neither type uses keys on the rotor but the Electrex world rotor has a large boss with a hex on it for a spanner. With that said they are both pretty easy to install.
If you can live with the lower alternator output of the Electrex world unit I would go with them, you are in the UK and so are they if back up is needed.
Dont be fooled if you dont see a spark on the Electrex world ignition it is very fine and impossible to see in daylight.
