That is one good looking bike! Say, you that use them, doncha have a problem with the tank bags dulling and chaffing the paint?

Thankyou....Good quality paint... well waxed and it doesnt scuff it up..it may leave some dirt smear..but a micro fiber cloth and a little wax and it shines right up...But i do not plan to do this on a regular basis..I'm looking for a rear luggage rack....

To protect paint from tank bag, but some tool box drawer liner from Harbor Freight. Cut a piece to match the bottom of the tank bag. Put it between the tank and the bag. No more scratches.
Is it the rubbery quilted stuff or like felt?

I must be regressing, age-wise. Took the FJ to town yesterday to pick up a prescription (the curse of "maturity" - pills...) and I had an absolute BLAST! Cool-ish at 55-59° but not uncomfortably so.

As soon as I got off the moonscape that passes for our local roads, I popped it in "A" mode and passed everything in sight, whether I needed to or not. Safely of course, if not quite legally. Except in a couple of relatively densely populated sections, I blissfully ignored those little signs on the side of the road with the numbers on them. Mostly in 4th with that marvelous engine right in it's sweet spot at 5000 RPM.

Roll up behind some unimaginative soul doing the speed limit (or more often, pushing it by 5 or so) have a peek up the road, pop out into the passing lane and grab a handful of that right grip and SHAZAM! the elbows pop out straight, the eyes narrow a bit and the grin widens and then it's time to back off and tuck back in where I belong.

I know, irresponsible and gives us 2 wheel types a bad name but DAMN it was fun and when I got home I felt better than I've felt in weeks. Felt like 16 again, if only mentally, instead of staring 70 in the face.

The rubbery stuff. It looks like open weave.

I love it! I did the same thing yesterday but no traffic. Yeah, I was on the Yam but it's still fun. It doesn't start anymore since I put the pea shooters on; it busts off!

Rebel Rebel! You hooligans and your sport bikes! “ You never slow down You never grow old”

No pics but a bud texted "lets roll" So I dusted off Madness and we ran the country lanes for an hour or two. Felt great to be out.
Even riding alongside a Harley. :sneaky:
Gotta watch the corners:yikes:, those wide farm implements kick a lot of gravel up when the inner wheels cut into the shoulders.

Good to hear you Northern boys are finally waking up from your long winter nap! Down here it’s already straying into the “ Too Hot to Ride “ territory. I had the XS2 out for about 45 minutes this morning, that motor was getting good and hot by the time I got home!
