I had to rebuild my motor because the cam chain tensioner delaminated. Before that though it was running pretty good. Tear the motor apart. Honed cylinders, replaced gaskets, and of course cam chain tensioner. Reset valve clearance and checked timing and cam chain tension. Everything there is fine but bike still doesnt want to stay idling and gives me some good popping at random intervals as well as on decel. Any ideas? Thanks guys

I've come to believe it did this in 1983!!
I'm following this for tips on that. Pops on decel is my middle name, baby

Well if other than that the bike is good it could be a little lean. How are your spark plugs?

Not what I expected and frankly I don’t think these look perfect, but opinions?

Hands, you may have done this already, but all I can suggest is basic troubleshooting: ignition first, then check for vacuum leaks, then carb synch (leaks before synch because leaks will affect manometer readings).

Sorry forgot.to mention. No vacuum carbs and VM 34s on my setup

I had that do the exact thing on mine some 35 years ago, the carbs were not synchronized, It may have had one of the sets of points timing retarded, I used the old dead plug system of calibrating I pulled one plug out then the other. AFTER I double checked the points and over all timing. Does it ever kick back on you kickstarting jer up?
