TCI Replacement 2020 It Works

Sorry for the crap pictures. The board is potted inside. You can just see the circuit board inside. I can see what looks like a power diode.
Steve. I may have to bring it to you to see if you have any suggestions on how to expose the board.

I believe it is about 1.1 mm per degree at the upper pickup mount. Glad you got to go out and ride today and that both yours and Elon's adventures were nominal.
If my smiley package comes tomorrow I should be able to get the wiring straightened out enough to work on getting mine running.

More updates:
Moved the TCI pickup as far advanced as it would go. Fired it up and that gives 1° advanced of the fire mark. Might pull it and elongate the slot to give a degree or two more. Now the odd part.... advance went bonkers exactly 1 time and then settled into a consistent 34° advance. Zip tied everything in place and did a test ride just around the 'hood for about 20 min. It behaves perfectly normal.... just like the old TCI box was hooked up. Soon as I get a tool kit made up I'll venture out for a longer run with some 60-70mph highways thrown in. Be nice to see others run one to find out what's up with the initial advance glitch.... but it's looking promising.

This is great Jim - the proof is in the puddin’.

Minor update:
Marked then pulled the sidecover to make a notch for adjusting the trigger. Currently on the TCI bikes, you have to pull the cover to get to the top adjustment screw.... quiet the pain in the butt. Now it just takes two screws and remove the alternator cover. All the better to play with timing. ;)

Smiling here Jim as that's an old XSJohn mod for exactly what yer doin', went along with the lower compression mod.
