Introducing Me and my 1983 Heritage Special Restoration

Anyone?
I’m collecting a list to order parts...
Seems to be a bunch of different Petcocks out there. Don’t know what fits!

I'd try what you've got 1st. I've never needed to replace one, just clean them out and lube them so they turn easy and smoothly. There's a rubber disc with 4 or 5 holes in it behind the lever. The lever base seals against this but often if the holes in the back of the lever are sharp edged, they'll tear up the rubber disc. I "break" the edges of any sharp-edged holes on the lever using a small sharp pocket knife and if the rubber disc is torn up, I flip it over. The backside is usually pristine and will seal up fine again without having to replace the rubber disc.

I don't disturb the backside of the petcock where the vacuum diaphragm is unless the petcock still leaks after doing the front side. The diaphragm is kinda delicate. There is a small plunger with an o-ring on it attached to the diaphragm and this fits into a beveled hole in the petcock body. The vacuum pulses work this plunger in and out of the beveled hole to start and stop fuel flow. Sometimes the o-ring is worn out and needs replacement or the beveled hole in the body is dirty or corroded so needs a cleaning.

Thanks!
Will take a closer look at it all.

My Slurry pump on my Vapor Blaster took a dump... just a Chinesium $65 pump that was really more for "Proof of Concept".
It stopped working and is all gritty when I spin it... Imagine THAT!
:p
$300 Tsurami pump on its way..

Was digging around in storage, looking for parts I know I have and came across some wheels I forgot! Think I got em off CL when I realized my rims chrome wasn’t coming back.
Front one is laced already, but the rear needs doing. The hubs have been cleaned up but I suspect I might need to go over them again, which will mean completely redoing them.
Rims are better than Whats on the bike, but a close examination tells me They might not be up to standard either.
The that were used look to be Taiwanese made SS.
Any good?

Many of us have used those spokes from Mike's without complaints. I think that is a cad plated set though, not stainless. No matter, they work just fine, just don't stay looking good for as long.

Yup. - I just did one of those and it does take some care together the pattern right - but it CAN be done!

Here is a linky to my build thread and the particular post on doing that ding-danged rear wheel.

Build Thread...Special to Cafe Bike

NOTE: if you do not get the pattern correct - the wheel won’t work because some spoke nipples will be threaded in too far and others won’t be in far enough. Stick at it - you’ll get there.

Thanks Guys.
I'm thinking I want this bike to be really nice but not totally stock.
Might wanna go SS spokes for the look... as I prob have to repolish the hubs anyway..
Good news is I will have the original set to copy the pattern from!

So, looking at MikeXS site, there is a Chrome or an alloy option for rim...
What do I need to know?
