XSCharge Gen II

Seems to be sold as a kit, couldn't find it sold as an alone product........
Kitt costs.................................................$257.75
All of the surrounding parts come to... $198.22..Coil and mount, advance rod, advance weights, leads and caps, 2 rubber grommets, 3 locating pins
Subtracting parts from overall............=..$59.53 cost of the Gen 2

Just another way to sell parts by enticing with a new product.......Buyer, says to themselves.......do i need a new advance weights and rod,, ($116.00)......Do you need to replace the coil ????, Coil bracket costs $17.75............. wont hurt to replace with new as the others are old............

Ding goes the till........

Don't know if the Mike's XS repop advance governor is better made these days, but there were reports here of bobweight pivot posts coming loose, and others reported posts misaligned. At $257.75 you're almost halfway to the price of a new VAPE PMA with crank-fired ignition and electronic advance from Hoos Racing (made in Czechoslovakia where they know about things like quality assurance).

I have own 2 XS 650 SE since 1985
Both cheap and in not in good condition.
The problem I have had with the ignition is Poor Charging weak spark and the Advance weights.
There is a bushing inside the cam that perhaps can be serviced and lubricated.
but not a proper bearing.
The Springs and Movement of the advance unit.
Was never good on either of these bikes.
The first bike hardly never retarded ignition for low rpm
Come to a traffic light red let go of the gas ,Bike Dies
Kicking at the corner .. and with weak battery it could take a while. Standard Coils hot
not the best reputation. or keep the rev up at the light. Like a fool preventing the stop.
So I went for the Boyer Bransden replacement ..was a huge step forward in both cases.
But again sensitive for charging.
If you ask me if you got the mechanical advance unit without a proper bearing
I believe there is a risk for Kicking events --- a good solid workout ...at the corner .Perhaps not the first year or second.
But the third .. in full black leather gear and 30 Celsius ( 85 F ) in the sun
Starting is not that easy if the advance unit has not retarded.
All your friends waiting at you on the other side laughing .shaking their heads.
Automobiles horns sounding ---you get the Picture.
And then you chuck in a fully electronic system anyhow....
I dont know if other fully electronic are better than Boyer Could be

Agree with Skull on this. Thats Boyer-Brandson money, and they're known as a quality system!

Found this old NOS Martek system on eBay a few weeks back for $175. Supposed to be the cream of the whole lot.

Agreed on the Boyer........

Not here, i have to agree with Jack on this........Poor product promotion, if he did sent the cardboard lid there would be no recourse for come back............

Feed back is not good either...........sold 10 products in 12 months and 2 negatives 80% positive as a seller......he has a 89.5% positive, gets the extra 9.5% percentage as a good buyer.......

name is not the best either.......samspammer...........definatly need a business manager.......
