From the very first bike I owned I have running PMA's all my life. The very first ones had s selenium rectifier and who knows what for a regulator. The Banshee system we use on the the 650 I first encountered on the 350LC's being brought in from Canada to race after the RD350 was removed from the American market. My RZ350 PMA just worked and never had a problem.

I suspect for every system that fries something there are 10 that charge just fine. We just don't hear about them. I also suspect a lot of the failures are caused by bad grounds and poor wiring. I have also noticed that a lot of the failures are related to battery less systems. Poor choices on system sizing are another issue. Throw in some poor choices on regulators and stators and here we are.

The gonzo pickup fits and lines up just fine on the Banshee stator mount. The keyway on the Banshee rotor is straight up when the reluctor and pickup are lined up for the pickup to fit in the corner of the case.

So it appears that a PMA can have the Gonzo Ignition added
The adapter plate needs mods(2 holes drilled)
A Banshee stator mount the has the pickup mount intact.
A reluctor on the flywheel (or maybe a neomag)

Team Junk, from what I have read that wave form is the correct way around i.e. coil wires are correctly connected. What is the +ve peak height in volts and at what rpm?

Thanks.

Tell us about your O scope Jack...

It's all Twomany's fault. He mention throwing his in his pocket going on a ride. That did it. Had to have one and needed it to figure out what was happening with the pickups.
It's the size of a of a Iphone and looks like one. Really like it except for the probes.

Looking at these traces it looks like the neo magnet is bumping the voltage quit a bit. May need a resistor in series to reduce the output on the points conversion.
