No major rips, tears, cuts, or gouging that I've found. Did find some tearing on right and left front. But nothing that seems too bad.

Some minor imperfections, hardened bottom edge, but still flexes and bends enough to manipulate it.

Seat foam is discolored from age, but seems to be in pretty darn good shape. Car with destroyed original skin underneath a BSA seat cover.

FOR NOW IT IS FOAM ONLY. if price is right, I can abandon seat pan restoration and send the rest of the components along. I am planning on reviving stock pan with custom foam molding, and custom stitched leather seat cover. We'll see how that goes

Does anyone know if the seat foam for the Standard models are the same? I would like to replace just the foam on a '78 standard. I suppose I can get this one, although mine is in about the same shape. I have yet to find anywhere that will sell a replacement foam for the Standard models (I think I may have seen them for the Specials?).

What I am considering is buying this one, and then forwarding it on to KDI, who has made a strong effort to get reproduction seat foams made for several Yamaha enduro models. I sent him a beat-up one from my '74 DT360, which he then used as the model for his reproductions.

I see them for the RD models, and have redone a KZ1000 of ours with new foam, which made a difference, especially for the passenger.

I cannot be the only one who would want to rebuild (as opposed to replace) their standard seat.

Thoughts?

I too have considered rebuilding the seat. I just don't want the same seat height so I'll be trying my hand at custom foam molding. My plan is to use the original seat pan, and make a shorter seat with custom stitched leather to finish it off.
