Americas Cup

Sorry but America's Cup boats are long thin mono hulls not these crazy ass hydrofoil things they race now.

Now that is impressive. What is it with NZ people and sailing? Progress TJ, no more wooden hull and cotton sails, just like everything going on these days. I'll be watching it on the tube once they get going. Yeah, I know, like watching paint dry. But I enjoy it, coming from a family that was all about yacht racing.

But, but, but, ............. these are 75 ft long thinned mono-hulls...............Just on hydrofoils..........

Funny thing is when a Kiwi used the Cup rules to mount an individual challenge with a Maxi mono hull boat .........Dennis Conner built a catamaran and won the challange..........The Us introduced catamarans into the Americas cup

Defiantly can't compare it to watching paint dry.........in the vids when they do a 180 turn the chase boats have trouble keeping up to the tight radius..........

Watched as much as i could when they were in Bemuda...........very exciting...............not so exciting when NZ was 8-1 up in the previous cup and lost it 9-8:(

How far do you go........Australia won it when they used a winged keel.............I'm sure over the last century there were innovations to sails, boat design and sorts of things.........nothing stays still........

Not long to go now
old boat......Te Aihi........

New Boat, the race boat...Te Rehutai...........new hull design and deck........

Done and dusted and long in the rear view mirror for some and others not interested............Why, when the Americas cup should be renamed the NZ cup.

Innovation........ Formula 1 has been used to develop the ordinary motror cars, and now it is Team NZ's time to redefine what drives boats. if they are really successful it may mean it can be used in motor vehicles.
