Hey all!

No, it appears the angled rod started in '76 with the type D adjuster. I think they did this to provide more clearance for the banked carb set that also came along in '76 .....

My recommendation would be to watch eBay for a type E assembly. They can usually be found for around $20, sometimes even a few dollars less. Stay away from the type D. It's no good because it has no lock nut.

Interesting..........went through all my 79SII pics and every one shows the E type adjuster.

Always found it strange that the 79SII Vin number follows on from the 80SG............80SG 2FO 200101-250000........79SII 2FO 250101 - 270000........

Was the 79SII concept designed after the 80SG..........meaning a new model is designed a year or 2 or more in advance to its introduction. did they decide to design and introduce the 79SII after they designed the 80SG. That could be why the Vin no's are in essence the wrong way round. 79 vin no's should be lower than the 80...........just a thought

'79 appears to be the changeover year for type D to type E. I think they came both ways that year depending on production date, or maybe the model has something to do with it too.

Yes, my 79F also had a type d.

The 79 Special II model is a very well equipped model, front end to rear.
