Gary, put me down for a set as well. No hurry...

Believe it or not the Alto clutch plates have shipped!
Any takers around yet? 8 plates n USA shipping about $90 (my cost) for early adaptors. You will also need one Yamaha steel (not included).
I have 200 plates coming or about two dozen sets.
I have not ordered any steels from Yamaha yet.

Gary I’m still game whenever it’s ready to go. Just let me know where and when to send!

Can do 7 or so sets with one used steel each, and as many as you need with just the 7 new friction disks.& frictions $90 shipped USA add $4 for one used steel.
I have ordered new OEM steels from Partzilla, due in July 20th, ish.
Thanks for all the replies!

I’m definitely interested, just need to free up some funds first. Our AC went out in the house the other day and really set me back.

I'm in Gary. Just let me know....

Alright, lets get started!

Partzilla has delayed shipping new steels until at least next week, but I have some used steels on hand so lets get started.
8 new Alto plates to your USA door $90, add one used steel $4, When the new steels arrive they will be $10 each, I will be stocking steels to ship the one extra plate needed, if you are replacing all your steels, you can order directly as easily as I can.
I do not have replacement springs in stock, they are readily available from ebay. I'll be ordering a set of clutch springs or 3 for the engine going together here. if it seems like a plan later I may stock springs also. I do suggest new springs if you haven't put them in already.
This is known as a "bolt on conversion" for clutches 74- to 77 73 and older clutches will need to be checked for fit, later special clutches with the half plate and spring need some machining to the basket to eliminate the half plate and go to the the 8 plate stack. Ippytattoo claimed the machining wasn't hard, I'll take a look at doing one, see how it goes.
My paypal ziesler123@gmail.com And go!

edited for year range these can be used without modification.(74-77)

Is it possible to just do a 7 plate conversion on the later clutches without machining?

Not sure, the plates are thinner so I'm thinking your stack will not be thick enough.
mebbie if you added an extra steel???
The Alto plates are 2.50mm the used stock plate I have here measures 3.00mm
Alto stock plate edge view.jpg

This difference is possible because the Alto uses a steel core instead of the stock friction plate's aluminum core. They are slightly heavier. I suppose the thinner edges could wear notches into the clutch basket a bit quicker, so far there have been no reports of that being an issue.
Just eyeballing, all other dimensions appear to be an exact match.
