82' Special…. was running... not charge'n… then... wt? Lost spark........ stator-rotor ck out by book..... go'n to walk away for day or... two
 
Swap in a "Gonzo box" for the TCI and a 3 phase diode and an Fiat reg for the charging and your down the road for less than $60. That's after the harness check/inspection.
 
If your not charging the low voltage will effect your TCI. I might suggest you fully charge the battery then unplug the reg/rec and see how it runs. If this gets it running then more testing of your charging system is required.
If your reg/rec is the issue then the 3 phase rectifier and the Fiat regulator is an inexpensive way to fix it. I have that set up n the 75.
If it doesn't run then more testing on the ignition system is needed. It could be dirty connections on the wiring or dirty contacts in the ignition switch or kill switch.

Grrrr… head'd to the shop for Mon and Tuesday.... try and find voltage and that sparky thing...… saw on the 650 forum someone used a TCI off a Tu250... ? I pass'd that along to my shop partner…. my remain'n grey matter is be'n directed towards other … matters...… end of the week.. road trip... !! !! to Denver.... drop off a bike..... :)

So he got a aftermarket volt-reg..installed it.. and " poof ".. no more charging.. then the spark departed the scene. A call to the local cycle boneyard for a ignitor box.... ".... haven't seen one for years.."... we opened the box.. no pop'd transistors.. or burnt circuit board... a buddy over in Wisconsin said he had one.. mailed it to us. Upon arrival.. the ends are different... Grrrr.. so we call'd the buddy... he's a retired electrical guru..... he said.. cut the side of the one he mailed.... and install... he said the blk-white wire isn't needed.... so.. I installed it.. turned key on expecting to see cooked.. fried wires... turned engine over.. " SPARK " .. great blue spark....
Still no charging.... we removed the aftermarket unit the kid bought.. installed the old unit... Ta DA ! 14.5 volts running with lights..... I still hate black boxes.... we usually won't work on these units... for this reason.... but the kid bought the bike from me last year... collage kid... mows Mark's grass for money.... part timer at the grocery store.... so... no charge.... as in .. no $$$..
