WJL AKA Wrenchjohns Legacy 70 XS1 in gggGary's hands

Boy, that bike looks and sounds so good! :geek:
So is this just a joy ride? Or are you going to look at another old Norton? :laugh2:

Oh that just sounds like too much fun! I looked up where you where headed last night and saw how close it was to Baxter Cycle and wandered if there was a connection. Make sure you meet Randy Baxter, he’s a really nice guy. I bought both of my Triumphs from him. Greg be sure you tell him about your Hurricane, he’ll love it.
Post lots of photos guys, I’m really looking forward to seeing this! :)

The plan is meet at Poopys Pub at 9AM (I'm not making this up) then toddle across Iowa on backroads. Cuz I80 across Iowa on a pair of XS650's would not be enjoyable. We will no doubt wear away our tire edges with all the cornering.
Been more or less beavering away trying to get this thing old man friendly for a day long ride. My current conundrum is the rear shocks.
I think what's on there is the notorious MikesXS butt busters.
By the time I get it completely comfortable it won't be recognisable as an XS1!

Hey I just figured out, if you add your ages to your bikes ages, you will be representing almost 230 years! That’s a lot of wisdom there! You guys should get some pudding bowl helmets and goggles to complete the look! :laugh2:

Um not riding Nortons (this time)

Put on a hunnert miles taday, I's got work to do yet. Yeah these shocks suck, under sprung over damped, clunk, clunk. I looked at about 4 pairs of shocks I have, off and on other bikes don't think any of em will work.
Checked timing this morning, idle was good, way too much advance, and all at once, at about 3500 RPM retarded it so advanced timing was where it should be, but then had idle issues. killed three times trying to leave a light in traffic, NOT fun on a kick only bike. I think it might have mikes springs and worn advance bobs. Several solutions at hand will have to pick one and install. Pamco all in one with advance is leading in the polls. Luggage all sitting good and staying put. Couple other things to iron out but hey I got 4 days yet!

I've also prepping my XS2 for the toddling adventure. Oil change, check valves etc. After last years trip I knew I had to do something about the seat. During the winter I put new foam in it. Much more better. Couple hours on it no problem, all day iffy. It still could use some help. Saw this on Amazon. $20 worth a try. It's an improvement, but not sure if it's an all day seat. Got another helper coming, should be here Wednesday. Also need to get busy and get the rear rim to shine.
