So my buddy and I are going to be making a series of youtube videos on auto performance and customization. The idea is to make really well shot and edited tutorials on motorcycles and import car tuning.

I shot this video yesterday and spent today editing it and doing the voiceovers. This is the first time I have edited film since high school, it was a bit of a challenge but I eventually figured it out.

So give me some feedback. Did I make any newb mistakes? I am still learning the videomaking process so the quality will go up as we make more videos. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see added or removed for future videos.

Very nicely done! I've been working on that videos section here and there. I need to get that done so I can post your video in there if you don't mind.

Tip.. use two wrenches to remove the cam chain tensioner cap so you don't disturb the tensioner itself.

That's well done for a first effort, and the video quality is really good. I like the way you have edited, and shortened it up so it's not necessary to watch every movement you make-just the main things. A lot of people never get that. I've done a number of full length, professionally done instructional videos (woodturning) and I can tell you you've done well.

As you go, be damn sure that you understand what you are presenting, that what you show is good practice and technically sound.

Keep it up. :)

John

PS mind if I ask what kind of camera you used? Nice image quality (and good lighting)

Thanks! I am using a kodak zi8 camcorder. It's a nice little unit and it wasn't too expensive.

Kudos Crab Cake. One of the best I've seen.
A note on the intake removal. 38's are shorter than 34's.
On the standards it isn't necessary. On the '83 it is,unless you want to fight with it.

Excellent job, Crabcake! Well lit and shot......focused tightly with clear audio. Concise but complete presentation....just one tiny criticism....please lose the piano sound track! I don't know how everyone else feels but I really don't think you even need a sound track! Music with the opening frames would be great, but let the pictures and the narration speak for themselves. Still 5 stars!! More, please!!

Great effort. well done. Now for the carb overhaul video series!!!!!

I have found some years need the manifolds removed and you have to take them off anyways to check for cracks and the gasket sealing area.

Yes, very nicely done. The only "newb" mistake I see is in your throttle cable removal technique. Bending the cable to the side like that with pliers puts a kink in the end. Preferred removal method is to remove the cable sheath from the holder above the throttle arm, pull it down and to the right side, then simply pop the ball end out of the arm. No tools needed and no kink or bend put in the cable end.

Great job, CC! I know on My 79 only the left boot needs to come out. Image quality and sound were excellent. Only one complaint. Shoot the piano player........
